Catherine Lies Obituary

Catherine Faye Lies

Catherine Faye Lies, born to Clif ford and Dora Jane Casto on Jan. 15, 1913, in Akron, Ohio, and the widow of Dr. Thomas Lies, went to her her eternal home on Nov. 10, 2002.

She gradu ated from Gar field High School in 1933 and from Hammel Actual Business College. She worked for a time at Standard Oil Co., in sales at the M. O'Neil Co., and was a legal secre tary at Summit County Probate Court. She was an officer in the National Secretary Association and a member of the Allenside Garden Club, a member of the Garden Forum of Greater Akron, a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, and was an accredited Rose Society Judge Emeriti. She loved working on her roses and traveling to rose shows around the country and out-of-state conventions and seminars. She was also a volunteer at Akron City Hospital for 25 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and sisters, Lucille Price, Geraldine Casto, and Marga ret Jones. She leaves nieces, Bobbi Boyles, Beverly Lewis, Sandy Smith; nephew, Dennis (Linda) Jones; and many friends.

Special thanks to City Hospital staff, Manor Care of Barberton staff and aides, Summa Hospice person nel, especially Donna E., Kay Byrd, Kim Reinzi, Angie, and Diane, and Pastor Joseph Lee for his compassion. Also Pastor Ken Baillis of the Hope United Methodist Church, and Pastor Dee Miklos.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, Nov. 14, at 11 a.m., at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 3281 S. Cleveland-Massillon Rd., Norton, where friends may call one hour prior to the service, Pastor Dee Miklos and Rev. Ken Baillis officiating. (Adams-Mason Memorial Chapel, 330-535-9186.)
