My condolences to your family. I've been lucky to know Casey as a fellow resident at Smith Village. He always had a smile on his face and went out of his way to say hello to me, my mother, and the rest of my family when they came to visit. A great conversationalist, he would always talk and say hi to my brothers (non-Smith residents) when he saw them. He went out of his way to be kind always. I remember his mastery at jigsaw puzzles and he kept himself busy. He seemed much younger than his age!
With such a vibrant personality - he will really be missed here at Smith Village, he touched so many of us. We've all been fortunate to have known him. -Al Brown

Dear Chimel Family,
On behalf of the Slosar family in California, please accept our heartfelt condolences. As you all know, Casey and my dad became dear friends during their time at Smith Village. Having just seen you all for our dad's services, we are even more heartbroken that our dear Casey has now passed. Such a wonderful and charismatic man, Casey made the Village a better place. He loved being in the middle of the action and always made those around him smile. 99 and 1/2 is too short!~.
We will always have a special place in our hearts for him and we are so grateful to have met you through him.
I am sorry for your loss but hope you find comfort in the fact that he was here and living life to the fullest for so many years.
Sincerely,
Paul, Darlynn, Shane and Sydney Slosar

I work at Smith Village, and Casey was always one of the kindest residents I knew. I will forever miss being serenaded with “My Way” in the elevator, lending him a hand with his famous puzzles, and hearing the familiar “Howdy do, darlin’!” as I walked past him in the halls. He was one resident that has definitely left a lasting impact on me because of his bright light of kindness. I am so glad to have known him, and I extend my deepest condolences to all who have also been lucky enough to have experienced that privilege.
