To The Family of Caroline Tedesso,
My name is Kimberly Webb. I am Chief of Staff for Alderman Leslie Hairston. I was just informed of Caroline's passing today when I called her office at city hall to get information for a constituent.
I worked with Caroline since 1999 when my Alderman was first elected. She was always professional, knowledgeable and kind. I will miss her greatly.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Sincerely,
Kimberly

Working in the same room at City Hall, Caroline was a no nonsense, old school, don't take no crap, with a total heart of gold woman. Would always laugh at the craziness & say "God love you girl"' if she was really tickled. We both survived breast cancer and she would say "Look at me, you never know what God has planned." Just a great spirit and never stopped going, and going. She's getting her well deserved rest from this life, but is taking no mess on the other side to be sure! Miss her smiling face and laughter.

Caroline you will be greatly missed! My husband loved every minute that he spent helping you. He loved your no mincing of words and your kind heart. Thank you for always being kind to us both. He never could say enough about you and was always shocked and amazed how much drive you had. Rest easy now and know that you will always be remembered for your beautiful spirit and spit fire personality! God bless you and those who loved you.

Caroline was a beautiful person and I will miss her dearly. I was lucky enough to have met her 16 years ago and she not only taught me the ropes at City Hall she taught me a lot about life and being strong and their for family and friends. She was one of the hardest working people I've ever met and she lived her life the way she wanted. We shared so many daily laughs and conversations about life. I will miss her smile, words of advice and her humor. That is something I will miss the most is her humor. I love you and miss you Caroline. I know you are doing the jitter bug in heaven.

Caroline was my aunt. Throughout my life I have watched in amazement at this woman who never gave in and never gave up. She treated everyone as they asked to be treated. No exceptions. We should all have that kind of courage. If you did something she didn't like-she would not talk behind your back- she would tell you, in a manner that I can only refer to as "Taylor street" language- born out of the area she grew up in Chicago. She was a lovely, no holds barred woman who had a smile and a spirit that could light up the dullest of hearts. She won everyone over ; time and time again because you just can't fake being "real" and we all respond to that.
My aunt faithfully wrote a letter to my mother (her sister) every week and called equally as much-just to say hello, even though my mom couldn't hear on the phone and didn't respond to the letters. Devotion. My Aunt Caroline was full of devotion. To her family, to her friends, to her job/coworkers, to anyone who needed her to be. At 87 years old she finally retired from her job at the City of Chicago in September.
She didn't feel any idiosyncratic emotions. She told us how it was -always. But she truly cared and that is why there was no option but honesty for her. I truly admire this woman. I truly love her. I will miss her terribly as each day goes on. I recently asked her what she thought her secret was to a long life and she replied, " I don't think about how old I am or any gosh darn (edited) secrets to life-I just do what I have to do each day and enjoy it."
I also want to mention someone very special to my Aunt. Jennifer Randall was a beacon of strength and love and support to my Aunt Caroline over many years and especially through illness and her last days. Jennifer was a co worker who became her very best friend. One is not given a devoted friend like Jennifer unless you yourself are devoted. Jennifer's friendship speaks volumes to both her character and my Aunt Caroline's character. We reap what we sow but we also get what we give. Jennifer and Caroline were prime examples of what true friendship should be.
Her children and grandchildren and great grandchildren, who were at her side through to the end showed the value of a life well lived and a person truly loved. Her granddaughters each with their own uniqueness rival to their grandmothers; owning each second of themselves as if she was speaking through them, making you pause in amazement at my Aunts influence on those around her.
It is in her children, my cousins ; Carmella and George, myself, her many nieces and nephews and her grand-kids, her great grand-kids, her coworkers and her friends that her spirit will live on forever. She left a piece of herself in each and everyone of us that I know I will cherish and nurture through my life. My Aunt has left us all better people than we ever imagined we could be. And yet upon first meeting her, you would have never guessed the ways she would change your life, your mind and your heart.
Rest peacefully Auntie, you have earned it. You are loved tremendously and be assured that we will all do our best at making you proud. You are and always will be one of "favorite" people. I am so grateful to be a part of this loving family that you created. I am so proud to be your niece.
I love you
Mokey
