Carlos Dohse Obituary

Dohse, MD, Carlos Antonio 86, beloved husband of the late Mary Kathleen, nee Deeley; cherished father of Isa (Mario) Perottino, Kathy (Vic) Amro, Lina (Raymond) Rojas, Tony (Tina) Dohse and Jerry (Aidee) Dohse; proud grandfather of Carlo and Giovanni Perottino, Zachary and Lina Amro, Christina, Raymond, Lucas and Olivia Rojas, Anthony, Matthew, Maria, Carlos, Nicolas and Isabella Dohse; beloved son of the late Ernesto and Consuelo; dear brother of the late Isabel Arzeno, Hans, Ernesto, Miguel and Augusto; fond uncle, brother-in-law and neighbor; dear friend to many including his extended Dominican family. Antonio passed away peacefully surrounded by his children in his Elmhurst home on January 5, 2012. Born in Salcedo, Dominican Republic, to a Lebanese mother and German father, he received his medical degree from the University of Santo Domingo in 1950, and completed residency in Plastic Surgery at Queen Mary's Veteran Hospital in Montreal. He practiced Family Medicine on the near southwest side, dedicated to the St. Anthony Hospital community. He was a world traveler, lifelong student, golfer, gardener, and above all, a family man who adored his Mary Kay beyond words. He loved the ocean, and in October was able to swim one last time in the Caribbean Sea. Visitation Sunday, 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Monday, 8:00 a.m. until time of funeral 9:00 a.m. at Gibbons Funeral Home, 134 South York Road, Elmhurst. Mass of Christian Burial 9:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Interment Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, Hillside. Dr. Dohse was our family doctor for over 30 years. I remember Dr. Dohse as a kind, wise, caring, dedicated, endearing man. He always had time to take calls from his patients. A rarity in this day. Our sincerest sympathy to the Dohse Family. He was one of a kind. The best of the best. May you find comfort knowing he made a huge impact on many lives. Rest in Peace, Dr. Dohse.

As a pharamaceutical representative, I found Dr. Dohse to be one of my favorite physicians. His office on Cermak, next door to the fruit market, was a pleasure to visit. Please accept my condolences on your loss.

To All The Dohse Kids:

I have enjoyed living across the street from your father and family for the past 27 years. We will miss him as he pondered his landscape on summer nights. He has a much more beautiful landscape now, next to his MaryKay.

How proud you should all be.
A father and mother who did their best to raise all their children with great love and devotion, who rolemodeled what was important in life..
love, and devotion to family and friends. How lucky and proud you children should be to have been taught by the best, and in return you watched over your father (and mother) with the same love, devotion and respect.

God bless you all at this difficult time,
Dr. Dave and MK Dungan
