Carla Thompson Obituary

Thompson, Carla Ingeborg age 97, of St. Louis Park, died September 7, 2007. Preceded in death by her Swedish immigrant parents Axel Mauritz Sundborg and Carla Eleanor Olson Sundborg, sister Dorothy and brother Erland Olaf Sundborg and her beloved husband Arthur C. Thompson. She is survived by her daughter, Judy Thompson; her "other" daughters Nora Stewart, Anne Lampe O'Brien, and Sally Lampe Gould; the Fiterman children, Miles, Matthew and Stephanie Fiterman Rosenthal and many cherished friends. Her heart resided with her family, friends and her flower garden where she planted herself on summer days until the sun went down. She traveled the scenic route throughout the land and journeyed through every type of the written word with endless curiosity all her livelong days. She was a member of Aldersgate Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school, volunteered at homeless shelters and was committed to social justice. She kept her wits about her and lamented the current war. She will be remembered for her caring and generous spirit, her fierce tenacity in spite of her frailty, and her breathless appreciation of life's beautiful gifts. Memorial gathering on Tuesday, September 25th, 2007 at 1:00 PM in the Snyder Building at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. "We loved the earth but could not stay."
