Carl E. Meyer 89,of Lincoln, Missouri, passed away, Wednesday, November 1, 2006 at Bothwell Regional Hospital, in Sedalia, Missouri. He was born on February 25, 1917 in Benton County, Missouri the son of Claus and Martha Meyer.
He graduated from Warsaw High School in 1936. In 1939, he was united in marriage to Etna Louise Wenig, and unto this union one daughter was born.
Carl was a farmer and had a love for horses, which he raised along with cattle, hogs, and sheep. He was also a dairyman, and enjoyed milking cows for many years. He was also a family man. In the early 1970's they sold their farm and built a new home moving to Lincoln, Missouri. He and Etna enjoyed watching their grandchildren Kathryn and Marsha grow up. He never missed an opportunity to attend any of their functions. Soon his family was blessed with great-grandchildren they too were the apples of his eye. Carl invested a lot of time with his family instilling character and morals. He was a father and grandfather that left a legacy for those to follow.
During the retirement years, Carl and Etna delighted in traveling to various states with family and friends. He spent a lot of time making the rounds at his favorite hot spots, visiting with his many friends at Kent's Barbershop, Rigby's, Estes Drive In and Winkler's Restaurant.
Over the course of his life he was a member of the Spring Grove Missionary Baptist Church of rural Warsaw, where he was the oldest member.
Carl is preceded in death by his parents, his devoted wife, Etna of 52 years and his son-in-law, J.W. Stone.
He is survived by his daughter, Shirley Stone of Windsor, two granddaughters Kathryn Louise Edwards and her husband Barry, of Warsaw, Marsha Ann Mehrens and her husband Jr. of Lincoln. Also surviving is five great-grandchildren, Spenser William Lee Edwards, Myles McDonald Edwards, of Warsaw, Kyla Marie Mehrens, John Michael Mehrens and Gabriel William Mehrens, of Lincoln and many friends who will greatly miss him.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday November 4, 2006 at the Davis-Miller Funeral Home in Lincoln, with Rev. Barry Edwards, officiating. No visitation. Memorial contributions may be mad
