Although Mr. Covan was not my counselor, I did have the opportunity to work with him on various school projects during my time at Mather. He always treated the students with such respect-probably one of the first times I felt like an adult. You know someone has touched your life when you have such clear memories of them over 50 years later. My condolences to his family.

Mr. Conan was my counselor in high school from 1962-1965. He was a very compassionate and caring teacher who positively impacted so many lives during his career. He will be missed.

My heartfelt condolences go out to Burl's family and friends. He was a wonderful, kind, intelligent, caring man who guided thousands of high school kids to have, among other things, confidence in themselves. I was one of those teens, from Mather's class of 1965.
I stayed in touch with Burl since graduation. I admired and respected him so very much. And I will miss his friendship.
Rest in paradise, "Uncle" Burl. And may your memory always be a blessing.

Condolences to the Covan relatives. I´ve known Burl since he was my brother´s roommate at U. of I.-Champaign. Later in life I enjoyed hearing his stories about my family. He was a kind, compassionate, caring man who was very easy to be with. R.I.P., Burl.

I had the pleasure of telling Mr. Covan at the 50th anniversary of Mather High School in 2009 that he was one of my favorite teachers and counselors. I´ll always remember him with fondness. May his memory be a blessing.

Like many others, Mr Covann was my English teacher my freshman year in High School. The skills he taught me remained with me and made a meaningful difference in my career. My sincerest condolences.

Condolences to the Covan family. I was a student of Burl's in 1960. He had a profound influence on my life. I am grateful that I had many opportunities to see him over the years, together with other former students who also held him in the highest regard, and express my appreciation for him as one of the finest teachers I encountered.

Burl Covan was a wonderful teacher who recognized my writing ability before I did. Thousands of Mather High School students were blessed to have him as their teacher and guide. May his memory be for a blessing.
