Bret Busby Obituary

Busby, Bret R.

Bret R. Busby, age 41, of Fox Lake passed away Wednesday, March 27th 2024. Born in Arlington Heights, Illinois, raised in Bartlett, lived in Chicago and Streamwood, and Resident of Fox Lake since 2018.

Bret was Born in Arlington Heights, IL on December 6th, 1982 and raised in Bartlett by his two loving parents Craig L. Busby and Sandra S. Busby. Bret is survived by his Brother (Blake E. Busby), Daughter (Avery), and Nephews (Camden and Bentley).

Bret lived a life full of happiness, trials, and tribulations. As a child Bret enjoyed playing Soccer and other sports with his close childhood friends, attending Chicago Bears and White Sox games from "Dad's Seats", being the ring leader of ten younger cousins, and loved the once in a lifetime vacations shared with his family to places like Mexico, Cayman Islands, Turks and Caicos, among others.

Bret's calling in life was as a "people's person" which allowed him to have friends in many different walks of life, and in which he spent decades of his life in lines of work that allowed him to have the most impact on people. Later in life, Bret was diagnosed with a life altering disease, Epilepsy. Bret battled with this illness for the last ten years of his life. Although this disease affected the ways Bret was able to live and enjoy life, Bret found new happiness during this battle. Leading Bret to find a new passion in bringing awareness to this disease that affects so many other peoples' daily lives, and Bret enjoyed being an active member of the Epilepsy Community.

However, Bret's true passion and love of his life was reserved for his daughter, Avery. Bret's life was made full and complete on January 20th 2010 when god blessed him with his beautiful daughter, Avery Alynn Busby. Bret found his life's true calling watching his daughter grow up into an amazing young lady. Bret loved watching Avery play sports, run track, twirl baton, cheer, strive in school, take care of her cousins, and grow into a person with amazing character and integrity. He loved the moments they shared together laughing, joking, and just enjoyed being in Avery's company. The moments and memories Bret shared with his daughter are the happiest times of his young life.

Bret was also an excellent older brother to his other siblings Blake and Scott. Helping guide Blake and Scott throughout their lives, providing them with unconditional love and support and helping shape and develop who Blake and Scott have become today. Bret also will live on as "Funcle" Bret for his two nephews; Bentley and Camden. Bret loved watching Bentley, and his Godson Camden; play Sports on Saturdays, Climb Trees, and made sure he always created a fun and goofy time for his nephews. Time neither Bentley and Camden will ever forget.

Bret also shared a special relationship with both his father (Craig) and Ma (Sandy). These relationships evolved over his life, but Bret's last years of his life were shared building a special relationship with his Ma. Together Bret and his Ma overcame life's obstacles and found slivers of happiness together, while building a bond both his mother will remember forever. This bond and time shared with his Ma allowed Bret to have an amazing last few years of his life.

All in all, that is who Bret Richard Busby was; one of God's sons. A person with a loving soul, and a person who took pride looking over the people in his life. Bret was a connector and made sure he spent his time on this Earth not only making sure he stayed connected with those he loved; but also ensuring he kept others connected with each other as time and life went on. Bret would give his shirt of his back to anyone in need and put himself in harms way for the benefits of others. Bret was someone you could count on, no matter what. And although Bret's life was full of ups and downs. His life experiences, as well as his time, memories, and the love he shared with his family, daughter, and nephews the last few years of his life. Allowed Bret to finally find a piece of Happiness he seeked and hopefully peace, now that he watches over us from Heaven.
