Brandon Newsome Obituary

Newsome, Brandon Terrell (Age 17) of Clinton, Maryland.

Brandon Terrell Newsome was born on February 10, 1987 to John "Bud" and Charlene Newsome in Oxon Hill, Maryland. Brandon, the youngest son was a sensitive baby whose eyes lit up when he saw his mother's face. Brandon peacefully departed this life on Sunday, August 1, 2004 at Fort Washington Hospital, Fort Washington, MD.

Brandon was educated in the public school system of Prince Georges’ County, Maryland , He was an honor roll student at J. Frank Dent and Allenwood Elementary school. He later attended Barnay Manor Elementary where he had his first acting debut as the voice of God in the play “The Creation”. He also played football for Silver Hill Boys & Girls club while in elementary school.

He attended Thurgood Marshall middle school in Temple Hills, Friendly High School and had just completed the eleventh grade in June 2004 at Crossland High School. He was a very bright student at Crossland where he met and made many friends.

Brandon was a sketch artist and could draw anything just by looking at it, but his greatest passion was basketball! He could play basketball from sun-up to sun-down if he had his way. One of his greatest joys was playing basketball with his best friend and big brother, Theo. When you saw one, you knew the other was somewhere nearby. They were affectionately called "Theo and Brandon, the Pair". More recently, Brandon was certified to officiate football and other games in Maryland. He loved going to work with his black and white shirt, cap and “Official" whistle.

Brandon “grew up” at Gethsemane United Methodist Church but in 1999 he joined Grace United Methodist in Fort Washington along with his mother. At Grace he helped out with the Share Program and even “placed” at a church bowling event. Brandon knew the Lord and had a very special relationship with him.

Suddenly and most unexpectedly, God called Brandon for a mission. A mission that in his quiet and serious way, Brandon was prepared for. And just as they were always together, Theo was at his brothers' side when God called him home.

Brandon leaves to cherish his loving memory: his devoted parents, John (Bud) Newsome of Washington, DC and Charlene Cherry Newsome of Clinton, MD; one brother, Theo Jaron Newsome; one sister, Deirdre E. Hall of Landover, MD; his maternal grandmother, G. Elaine Cherry of Kelford, NC; his paternal grandmother, Eva Newsome, of Kelford, NC; aunts, uncles, great aunts, great uncles. cousins and a host of other relatives and friends. Last but not least, Brandon leaves his loving pet, Ferbie.

The Viewing will be held on Thursday, August 5, 2004 from 6 to 9 pm, with a Prayer Service at 7:30 pm at Church of the Great Commission, 5055 Allentown Road, Camp Springs, Maryland and on Friday, August 6, 2004, 10 am until Service time 11 am.
