Beverly Draper Obituary

Draper, Beverly J.

Beverly J. Draper (née Donnan), age 84, of Chicago, IL was born on Thursday, January 14, 1937 passed away at home in the arms of her loved ones on Sunday, November 28, 2021.

Beverly is survived by her loving daughters: Sally and Maureen; her grandchildren: Johnny and Laura, her

great-grandchildren: Thomas, Isabella and Tristan; her sister Sheila and brother Thomas; her beloved nephew Eric Broukal; and many family and friends. Her son Sherman preceded her in death in January of this year.

Beverly dearly loved her children, family and friends. She enjoyed the many friends she made while working for the City of Chicago Police Department, her last position being that of a 911 dispatcher, and had many fond memories of her coworkers.

Our mother was a very hospitable, loving and kind woman who once met a lonely old man on the bus and inserted him into our family. especially on the holidays. She gave temporary shelter to women desperate for help and took in any stray animals that came into our yard. Beverly Draper was truly an amazing woman. She loved fishing, swimming, exploring, spelunking, thunderstorms and hysterical laughter.

She wrote this for her Obituary:

"Catch the transient hour,

Improve each moment as it flies,

life's a short summer,

like a flower we die,

alas, how soon we die.

See you later guys"

I will love you forever.

For Sally, Maureen and other family members; we would like to tell you how very sorry we were to hear about the passing of your dear mother. Beverly was my first and only sister-in-law. We never referred to her as an ex-sister-in-law or ex auntie. We were blessed to have shared her for 5 decades and some years on this journey we all are on. Beverly and I also shared the same birthday month (January), alone with a nephew and several great nephews. Beverly was always a caring, loving, and supportive family member. She will be missed, always. There were/are many relatives who never got a chance to meet her, unfortunately; but some know about her through the stories my children, other relatives and I would share with them. One of the best memories we have about Beverly is her love for dressing/stuffing we would have on Thanksgiving dinner back in the days. Again, Beverly will always be missed. How right she was, " life is short," live it for now! We will see each other later!
