Alexander, Bessie (nee Gouzeas), beloved wife of the late James, loving mother of Alex "Lex" (Sue) Alexander, cherished grandmother of Daniel and Kristi, devoted daughter of the late George and Argyro Gouzeas, dear sister of the late William and Steve (Theresa) Gouzeas, fond cousin, aunt and friend of many. Visitation Monday, from 4 to 9 p.m. at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 6150 N. Cicero Ave. Family and friends will meet Tuesday morning at St. Basil Greek Orthodox Church, 733 S. Ashland Ave., Chicago, Ill., 60607 for funeral service at 10 a.m. Interment Elmwood Cemetery. Kindly omit flowers. Memorial donations to St. Basil Church or to the Rainbow Hospice, 444 Northwest Hwy., Park Ridge, Ill., 60068, would be appreciated. Arrangements by John G. Lex & Sue, I am sorry to here of the passing of your mother. She always treated me as a son while we were growing up. I'm sure she is at peace and in the arms of the Lord. My family and I will always keep her and your family in our prayers.

I met Bess in 1967 at Columbus school. She took me under her wing as a first year teacher. I enjoyed her friendship. She was a fun person to be with & she made my years at Columbus memorable.

She was a great teacher & a special person. I will always have fond memories of Bess.

My condolences to Bessie's family. Her great sense of humor, and her cheerful and fun-loving spirit, will be forever missed. Never a dull moment with our "hamburger queen", as she was fondly called, due to her discriminating taste in restaurant foods. Love you Bessie!
