Dear Aunt Rita and all Brady's,
I'm so sorry for your loss! Uncle Bernie was one of my favorite people. He always made me feel so special. Some of my best childhood memories are of gatherings at your home. Uncle Bernie took the time to talk to me and listen to me and I'll never forget him. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your families. Love, Jean

Dear Bernie Brady family,
I was sad to hear of the death of Bernie. Unfortunately we were out of town an unable to attend his services.
Bernie was a very special person. He provided us with a role model as a teacher, coach, and administrator, and as a person. It was my pleasure to know him as coworker from 1957 until his retirement. I remember many enjoyable moments working the basketball games-they were exciting. He provided us with a winning tradition. Even as an administrator you could feel comfortable joining him at lunch and expressing your ideas. He would give you his thoughts on the subject and you knew they were genuine. He always left with a smile.
We’ll miss him, but he left us with many happy memories.
My thoughts and prayers go out to you.

Dear Brady Family,
I was saddened to read of the passing of Bernie. I recently lost my dad and I know what a difficult time this is for you all. My memories of Bernie are some of the most positive moments in H.S. He always took the time to say hi and always had that warm smile. He was a great asset to Maine South and I'm sure for all of us who had the honor to be influenced by his warm disposition he will have an enduring effect on all of us. My families thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Best Regards,
John Klippstein

When the hundreds and hundreds of people gathered at the wake and funeral for Bernie we united not only in our desire to pay our respects to Bernie but also in our "need" to do so.
For such was his "warm, welcoming" appeal that those of us who had contact with him over his life, feel that we have lost someone very close to us. Someone who had a real impact on our lives. Someone we called: Friend, Coach, Mentor, Uncle, Brother, Brother-in-law, Father-in-law, Godfather, Grandfather, Father, and Husband.
I think is is fair to say that Bernie Loved God, his Family, and People. He brought these three loves together in such a way that we all loved him.
When I visited Bernie a week before he died he told me: "I have had these ten years since my surgery, for which I am greatful. I have a family which I love, I had a job which I loved, Good frineds that I've loved. I am 75 years old. I feel Blessed. I'm Ready."
Thomas Merton has suggested that there is a key choice to be made in finding the meaning of life: "To live life selfishly is to bear it as an intolerable burden or to live life selflessly is to be in Joy."
Bernie's life was a selfless one (except maybe, when he was playing basketball at Parker or Northwestern or when he was coaching at Maine South or other sports, haha) and how joyfully he lived his life.
Even if he didn't want to leave us, we can know, Bernie was Ready!
He was a wonderful Brother and he was Easy To Love.

Mrs. Brady, you and Mr. Brady were such a huge part of our family's life and memories. Thank you for the laughter and smiles that we all remember. The friendship my parents shared with you and Mr. Brady meant so very much to them. I like to think that my mom and dad are right now sitting with Bernie talking about the basketball team and sharing stories of past seasons. Those of us whose lives were touched by Bernie are better people for having known and learned from him. My sympathies and love to all your family.

Bernie, you were the best shooting guard we had at Parker High, before there were shooting guards. I remember that win over Marshall. Years later, we met again at the Olde Timers. You have been an inspiration by your dogged determination for three generations. We will miss you. God Speed.

Bernie's leadership at Maine South provided an positive example for thousands of students. His impact reached far and wide. He personally touched my brothers (Ed, Mark, and Dave), my sister (Laura) and me with his kindness.

All of the times I visited the Brady household, I never remember Bernie ever losing his cool or losing the grace and warmth of his smile. He radiated kindness, and that is something you just don't see every day, especially in coaches, or in men with large families. His sweetness is what I will remember, and of course, his generosity of spirit. The TV Mr. Brady could have taken some lessons from the Park Ridge Mr. Brady!
My heartfelt sympathy to all the Bradys and everyone Bernie ever mentored and touched.

Aunt Rita, and all my Brady Cousins: Words cannot express my condolences. I fondly remember Uncle Bernie as a child and how welcome he made me feel each time we visited your home. I remember one time we all went swimming at the Maine South pool, and how "awsome" that was to me!
You all are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
