Bernard Barnes Obituary

Fr. Bernard M. Barnes, O.S.M. a solemn professed friar and priest of the Order of Friar Servants of Mary (Servites)-United States of America Province, died April 1, 2005 at Resurrection Hospital, Chicago, IL. He was 84 years of age, and a priest for 56 years, dear brother of Beatrice, the late Margaret, the late Edward (Gertrude), and the late James (Mary), loving uncle to many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews, dear son of the late Patrick and Margaret (nee Goldrick) Barnes. Visitation Tuesday, April 5, 2005, from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m., followed by the Mass of Resurrection, 3 p.m., at the Resurrection Life Center, 7370 W. Talcott Ave., Chicago (773-594-7400). Interment Wednesday, April 6, 2005, at 10 a.m., Servite Section, of Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside. Please meet at the interment chapel. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Servite Friars-USA Province, 3121 W. Jackson Blvd., Chicago, IL. 60612. Arrangement by Ahern Funeral Home, 708-383-5700

My deep sympathy to Bea. We last met at Assumption Church 1998 at the party for Fr. Ford, remembering the 50th anniversary of our Barney and Matt. Gave Barney a big hug he was such a wonderful guy and priest. May God bless and comfort you at this time.
