Dr. Adelson was my doctor for over forty years (going back to the time his office was located on Green Bay Road). Such a kindly and upright man
...as well as being highly skilled and thoroughly professional
I'll miss him.

Bernie was not only a great Doctor, but a fine friend. My late wife, Dolores, worked with him as a nurse at Evanston Hospital in the 1950's.
In observing his work, decided she would like him to be her Doctor. When "DEE" and I married, in 1956, I was lucky enough to be accepted by Dr.A as a new patient. Dee had heart problems and died in 1997. I have since intended to call or write Bernie to thank him for all the years of excellent care given us.
Now, she can tell him herself.

Duffie: My condolences on the loss of both your father and mother. I cannot imagine how difficult it must be too loose both your parents so close together. I have many good memories of your parents, particularly your mom; carpooling to Sunday School, at South School , and in later years, at Ravinia. My thoughts and best wishes are with you and your brothers at this difficult time.

Our thoughts are with Dr. Adelson's family. When Dave introduced us to his parents, they immediately took us in to their hearts. Those who met Dr. Adelson were much better for it as his caring and devotion to others was contagious.

Dr. Adelson was our primary doctor when our family moved here in 1976. Although my father was the only one to see him as a patient in later years, I'll always remember him as a wonderful person who genuinely cared about his patients. He will be missed by all.

While we did not personally know Dr. Adelson we have heard a great deal about him and his activities. In addition we have been very interested in working with Duffie and the Merit School of Music. We know Dr. Adelson was very active on the music scene. We would have liked to have met him. Our deepest condolences to the family.

Dr. Adelson was my parents physician up until the time they retired to California in 1961. We moved back to this area in 1962 and had the privilege of having Dr. A as our family physician up to the present. He was in addition to being "Tops" in his Profession, he was a very "understanding" person as well. May we join others who knew him as saying he will be sorely missed.

I never met Dr. Adelson, but I was very impressed with the article about him in the Tribune. He must have been so much to so many with his intelligence and drive and, especially, his ethics; his loss must seem profound. My condolences to his family.

Dr. Adelson was our family doctor, our friend, the father of my students, and my colleague in Great Books Discussions at Evanston Hospital. How I cherished him! How often I think of him! What a great void his absence creates! He was a very exceptional man. His powers of empathy were extraordinary and made him not just a good doctor but a great one. His intelligence, his wisdom, made him such a valued member of a continuing conversation. He is a model of someone who lived out his values and thereby lived the life of meaning that we all aspire to. We are the poorer without his presence, but he will live richly on in our memories for as long as we live.
