With Ben's passing, an era has ended on Altgeld Street. Our relaxing days of stoop sitting are over, but the wonderful memories of conversation and laughter will linger on. We will miss Ben's twinkling blue eyes, easy smile and gravely voice. He was a wonderful neighbor and friend for over 29 years. Ben was someone we could always turn to for help, and we dearly loved him like family. We will miss having coffee in the kitchen, catching up, and watching the birds and squirrels play in the water bowl. Ben and June enriched our lives. We send them our love.

How blessed to have had incredible people like "Aunt" June and "Uncle" Bennie as friends. Uncle Bennie was such a good, practical man with a heart of gold. My prayers for comfort are with all of you.

I knew him only as Jill's Dad and talked a few times but what a loud guy he was and god bless him now that he has gone to be with his wife. We will all see you again in a better place.

On behalf of the entire Carrera family, our condolences to Mario, Jill and Dino. We have the fondest memories of both June & Bennie. The years we were their tenants will always be remembered. Under Ben's "tough" exterior was a wonderful, warm, generous and kind person. Altgeld St. will never be the same!

My condolences to all of you.Uncle Benny was loved by everyone in our family and anyone who knew him. My Grandparents Stanley and Isabelle and Aunt Dee just loved him and Aunt June. His sense of humor was second to none, and his voice you could hear him for blocks.
As a kid I used to love to come visit him when we lived on Wrightwood, it was as exciting to go to his house as a Cubs game.
God Bless you Uncle Benny

We miss Uncle Benny. Not only was he a war hero but he was a blast to be around. Entertaining, engaged,a great sense of humor.I know you are in a better place now with Aunt June, Aunt Dee, Belle & Stosh & all the others you have loved & lost. I would give anything to see your reunion & see who has the better card hand. As happy as you have made them, the ones behind will miss you terribly. Shows you how much everyone cared. I am glad your suffering is over. We always looked forward to visits to Colorado. I will never forget how you cared so much that you flew in when you hated planes for my Grandpa's funeral & how funny & sad you were. Love, Debbie
