Mest, Belle Rhea 80, of Chicago; loving and very fond sister of Stuart Mest (Nancey Cohen); loving daughter of the late Dorothy Mest (nee Blitstein) and Jack Mest; treasured, loving and caring niece of the late Bea Roth (nee Blitstein), Ann and Mort Blitstein, Cecelia and Joe Laywine, Marion and Max Mest and Lil and Alex Mest; devoted and loving aunt of Susan B. (Frank), Jackie M., and Mike M.; great and caring aunt of Tom M. Gillian M., Deven T., Jessica R. Hunter B. and Tony M.; loving great-great-aunt of Melanie, Tinsley, Parker and Joslyn; wonderful cousin to many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews from the United States, Canada and Israel; very dear friend of Lorna D., Betty W., Bill W., Fraya, Sheli L., Lynn C., Olga M., Corky and Al S, Stephanie Q., Roberta L., Sherry K., Jan K., Karen, Audrey, Venna M., Stephanie K., Cookie, Meme, Tanta Laya N. and the late Florene S. A very graceful thank you goes out to the to the management, medical and entire staff teams at Self Help Home, The Friend Center, Arden Court and Silverado for all the work and care that they have done to help Belle through her journeys while she was in their memory care units. Also a most graceful thank you goes out to the teams at JourneyCare, hospice organization, that has helped Belle during her final journey. Belle worked many years at Council for the Jewish Elderly where she was a coordinator for the volunteers. After her retirement, she was on the board of her condo and was involved in Chicago politics. Along with cousin Fraya, Belle put together the family's history. They put in many hours on this project and traveled to different countries checking ship manifests, marriage licenses, birth certificates, headstones and burial records. Throughout the years Belle always donated to many different charities. In lieu of flowers, if you wish, you can donate to a charity that is now near and dear to your heart.
