Beatrice McCann Duffy, 98, of Barrington Hills. Illinois. died peacefully at home on September 2, 2025. She is survived by her eight children, grandchildren, and great grandchild. She was predeceased by her husband T. Dennis Duffy. Beatrice was raised on a farm in Cando, North Dakota, where she milked 11 cows each morning before attending school. She loved poetry and was the North Dakota spelling bee champion. Beatrice graduated high school in Bismarck, North Dakota during WWII, then worked in Washington D.C. as secretary to U.S. Senator William "Wild Bill" Langer. She also worked with Dorothy Day at the Catholic Worker House. Beatrice graduated from the University of Minnesota, where she met Dennis Duffy, the love of her life, whom she married in 1953. Visitation is at Saint Anne Catholic Church in Barrington on Friday, September 19 from 4 pm to 7 pm. Rosary prayer service at 6 pm. The Funeral Mass is at Saint Anne Catholic Church in Barrington Illinois on Saturday, September 20 at 10:30 am, with a visitation the hour prior. Flowers or donations to St. Anne Catholic Community - Parish Sharing are welcome by the family.
