Barry Fey Obituary

DENVER (AP) - A music promoter who brought some of the biggest names in the business to Colorado, including as the Doors, the Rolling Stones and U2, has died. Barry Fey was 73.

The Arapahoe County coroner's office says he died Sunday at his Cherry Hills Village home. An autopsy was planned Monday.

Among the tens of thousands of shows he promoted during his 30-plus year career was U2's legendary performance at Red Rocks Ampitheatre in 1983, captured in the "Under a Blood Red Sky" video. It increased the outdoor venue's popularity and Fey was eventually able to get Bruce Springsteen to play there.

In the forward to Fey's memoir, Ozzy Osbourne said Fey was the first to book Black Sabbath.

The Denver Post (http://bit.ly/152EOih ) reports Fey was recovering from hip replacement surgery.

To Alan, Geoff, Jeremy and Tyler,

Please accept my sincere heartfelt condolences. I'm gratefully thankful for having the opportunity to meet your dad at a photo op while I was Mayor Webb's photographer in the early 90's. We got some time to chat and talked about my work experience in the NY/NJ concert scene, and mutual friends, Ron Delsner, John Scher and Sid Bernstein. It was always a pleasure speaking with him, and I truly appreciated his great advice and support for my projects. As recent as last summer, he offered his advice and support of an event I was organizing. We kept in contact via FB often. Barry will be greatly missed, and always remembered.

Your father's legacy of bringing the best of music and entertainment to this wonderful place we call home will live in the memories of thousands for many generations to come. May God rest his soul, and give you and your family comfort and strength.
