Barbara Smith Obituary

ALLENDALE, S.C. - Mrs. Barbara F. Smith, wife of the late Lawrence P. Smith, Sr., died Wednesday night after an extended illness. She was 78. Mrs. Smith was born February 17, 1927, the daughter of the late George P. Friedrichs and Henrietta S. Friedrichs. She was a school teacher for five years in the Allendale County Schools and retired from the Department of Social Services after 37 years. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and Iris Lane Circle and a graduate of Winthrop University. Surviving are three sons, Lawrence P. Smith, Jr. 'Rence' and wife Billie, John F. Smith, and George S. Smith 'Stan', all of Allendale. There are three grandchildren, Lawrence, Coty and Gillie. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church with burial following in the Swallow Savannah Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Smith-Rhoden Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Palmetto Hospice.
