Aubrey Payne Obituary

Payne Jr., Aubrey S. Aubrey Stanley Payne Jr., was born October 6, 1952, to Aubrey Stanley Payne Sr. and Patricia Jackson Payne in Milwaukee, WI. Aubrey attended Pious XI High School in Milwaukee and went on to receive his Bachelor's degree in Drama from the University of Notre Dame. While at Notre Dame, Aubrey acted in and directed several plays including the leading role in Showboat. Mr. Payne went on to teach theatre at Clay High School in South Bend, IN and eventually settled in Chicago. While in Chicago, Mr. Payne worked at most of the top theatres in Chicago including Steppenwolf, Goodman Theatre, Royal George Theatre, North Light Repertory Theatre Company, Organic Theatre Company and Mercury Theatre. Aubrey also served as the Director of Admissions of the theatre school DePaul University from 1992 to 1994. Prior to that Mr. Payne was a representative for developing theatres in the Midwest for actors equity association. Aubrey is survived by his loving cousins, Steven Lewis, Glynis Payne Walker, Phillip Payne, Laurance Lewis and a multitude of friends who's lives he touched in immeasurable ways. Memorial Mass Saturday, March 8, 10:30 a.m., at St. Benedict Church, 2215 W. Irving Park Rd., Chicago. Interment private.
