Arthur Tribble Obituary

Arthur Tribble Jr. VIRGINIA BEACH - Arthur Tribble Jr., 73, passed away peacefully at home on March 20, 2010. Mr. Tribble was born on April 1, 1936 in Charleston, S.C., to the late Arthur Tribble Sr. and Irene Andrews. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Air Force, retiring from the Air Force with 20 years. Mr. Tribble continued his career as a carpenter for the Navy, retiring with 20 years from civil service. He volunteered as a docent at the USS Wisconsin and was a member of the USS Des Moines Association, Red Horse Association, and lifetime member of VFW Post 392, where he was a Cootie. Mr. Tribble had a passion for fishing and woodworking. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Joyce Greene Tribble whom he married on April 14, 1956; son, Jim Tribble and wife Audrey; daughter, Connie Melvin and husband Bill; stepmother, Sara Congleton; brother, Grady Tribble; sister, Susan Harris; brother-in-law, Curtis Greene Jr.; grandchildren, Michael, Matthew and Andrew Tribble and Taylor and Grant Melvin; nephews, Glen and Curt; and nieces, Glynis, Anne and Karen. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today, March 22, at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel. A service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 23, at the funeral home with burial to follow in Rosewood Memorial Park. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Children's Tumor Foundation, 95 Pine St., 16th Floor, New York, NY 10005, www.CTF.org, in honor of his granddaughter, Taylor.
