Dr. Reinitz and Virginia were very special people to me. As a young man, I had some family problems, and was very disoriented. They allowed me to stay in their home for a period, always treating me as a family member, and making me feel as welcome as their own children. Dr. Reinitz was never judgemental, and was always very compassionate to me.

Both Art and Virginia helped me to get through a very tough period in my life, and I know I am better for the experience.

I loved them both, as if they were my own parents, and I will never forget their influences in my life.

They leave behind a beautiful and loving family. I lovingly direct my thoughts and prayers to them, and hold these fond remembrances in my heart. They are now gone, but not forgotten. May they rest in peace. Harvey

My father ws a man of many loves. He loved ballet, opera, music and theatre.I grew up knowing about some of these loves,Anna Pavlova,Nijinsky(he was an expert on Nijinsky),Licia Albanese,Renata Tebaldi,Jesse Norman,Beverly Sills, Charlie Chaplin,Renee Fleming,Daniel Barenboim, and Ella Fitzgerald, who sang happy birthday to him at the Blue Danube in the 40's.My father was a state champion violinist in high school. While attending the University of Chicago, he would get parts in the crowd scenes at the Lyric Opera so that he could attend the opera.

In the 50's my father was drafted into the Army and was a psychiatrist in a M.A.S.H. unit in Korea. After returning to private practice, he became interested in breeding Great Danes and then Pugs. He also became certified as a dog show judge. The dog world will remember champion Bruiser von Meistersinger and ch.Muse's Storm Cloud.

Another part of my father's life was his patients. There was something sacred about his bond with them and that part continued until his death. From time to time people would tell me how much my father had helped them and how human and decent he was.

Even with failing eye sight , he remained engaged in the arts through talking books and music. The Blind Service Association became an important part of his life. He also remained a news junky: he loved Clinton, was very sad when Ted Koppel retired and couldn't understand why President Bush hasn't been impeached.

His zest for life never diminished and effected all he did.

My deepest sympathies. I've known Art since the mid 1980's when I joined Lake Shore Kennel Club. How he loved our club, the dogs and the members that he's worked with over the years. I'll miss seeing Art at our meetings, shows and banquets. He always spoke fondly and with pride of his family. My deepest sympathies to all his family and Joseph. The dog show world has lost a fine man.

We have lost a great friend and opera lover with the passing of Art Reinitz. We shared many evenings at the Lyric Opera over the years and were amazed at his knowledge and appreciation for this art form. Your loss is our loss.

You have my deepest sympathy. I became friendly with Art when he first started showing your Great Dane. We belonged to the same Dane club. He was the only Dr. and I was the only Lawyer in the club. As the years went by,we mainly kept in touch with Holiday greeting cards. I shall always remember him as I always respected him, not only as a dog judge, but as a good person as well. Both my late wife and myself were very fond of Virginia, also. Again, I join you in your sorrow, and am in full empathy with you. My

deepest sympathy.

Dear family members. We were deeply saddened to learn of Dr. Reinitz passing. I had lunch with him in the Pittsfield Building in Chicago last September while in the company of his driver and good friend Joseph. Out family name is Doyle and we have known Art since coming to Chicago in 1970. Art was always humble but spoke with pride about all of his children, and of course his wife Virginia (RIP). Art spoke with great affection about his son in law Bob and his grandson Jeffrey, and never forgot his roots in Gilman, IL. Arts favorite hobby was dogs, and anyone who knew him for more than five minutes soon found that out. During Art's tenure and association with the American Kennel Club, he brought integrity, dignity and respect to that great organization. Our most sincere condolences to all of Art's family. God Bless you Art. Sincerely, Elizabeth and Joseph Doyle and family. Hoffman Estates, IL.

We felt saddened this AM to read of Dr Reinitzs passing in the paper. Our family (Noye) have been friends for many years of Art and Virginia. In fact Art was a guest this summer at our family reunion at Nina and James Huberts home in Gilman in August. He was able to visit with many family members at that time. We so enjoyed his stories of his life in Gilman! He will be greatly missed by us all, and we felt blessed to have him visit us this summer. Our condolences to all of the family at this time. Sincerely Linda and Russ Raymond
