Arthur Jacobson Obituary

Jacobson, Arthur F. 60, of Highland Park, August 24, 2001. Passionate lover of life. Beloved husband for 39 years of Janet, devoted father of Marc (Lauren), Wendy (Michael) Rosen and Jodi (Norb) Hansen, loving grandfather of Ashley, Jack, Justin, Lindsey and Charlie, son of Bernice and the late Sidney I. Jacobson and son-in-law of Ethel and the late Louis A. Kanter. Loyal and cherished friend of many. Art loved his family and grandchildren. He loved food and his Maxwell Street Polish sausages. He loved to play golf and was able to achieve three Hole In One and still holds a course record. He was an active member of AF&AM of the State of Illinois and a Medinah Temple A.A.O.N.M.S. of Chicago, IL. Art loved to go "sailing". He loved to play the Lotto, his video games and his pinball machines. Arthur was President/CEO of S.I. Jacobson Mfg. Co. with over 200 dedicated employees. The factory moved from Wabash Ave. in Chicago in 1985 to its present location in a 90,000 square foot facility in Waukegan, IL. Art helped form alliances with tool manufacturers throughout the United States by helping design packaging. He was a designer, salesman and a "hands on man" in all facets of the company. He helped pave the road for custom vinyl tool packaging to make S. I. Jacobson Mfg. Co. the foremost leader in custom vinyl packaging with seven patents. He was with the company since 1960. Art lost a courageous and "feisty" battle with pancreatic cancer after 20 months. He made everyone feel as comfortable as possible during his illness. He always wanted to make sure everyone was having a good time. He will be missed and his legacy will live on. Funeral service, 1 p.m., Monday, August 27, 2001 at B'nai Torah, 2789 Oak St., Highland Park. Interment Rosemont Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Arthur F. Art,

Although I did not have the privilege to meet you, may you rest in peace and may your family be consoled to know that you are safe in heaven.

Art Jacobson was a gentleman as well as an astute businessman. It was always a pleasure to meet with him and to do business with him. There are too few people of his character in this world. I will miss him greatly.

My deepest sympathies to the Jacobson family and to Art's colleagues and associates everywhere.

Art,

We will miss you dearly. You had a zest for life that is rare.

We love you and thank you for all the great times we have shared.

Thank you for all of the lessons I have learned. You were more than a leader and caretaker. You were a friend and father figure.

Love Barry, Holly, and Claire
