Arthur was a consumate friend and poitical leader. He cared about education, his constituents and his family. He was a walking textbook of political know-how and information. If Art told you something---you could take it to the bank.

Art was brilliant, thoughtful and full of energy. He was a most talented and knowledgeable legislator who worked nonstop for the cause of education. If you ever needed help, whether with legislation or with anything else, Art would be the first to volunteer. He was a good friend and a wonderful person.

Served in the State Senate with Senator Berman, he was well respected by both democrats and republicans. What a charming man with a great sense of humor.

Dear Barbara and the entire Berman Family:
I will always remember The Senator for his enthusiasm for public education and his dedication to public service. Always with a smile and a good laugh! He missed little as a Statesman and Leader.
My condolences to his wonderful, warm family, all of whom meant the world to him!
With my heart,

To the Berman Family
Our deepest sympathy.
I worked many campaigns with your Dad, many years ago. Over the years he would mention what a beautiful family he had and thanked God for that blessing. He will be missed.
He was an excellent statesman.
Illinois and the children of Illinois are better because of him.
Grateful to have known him.
Fondly,
Henry and Mary Anselmo

Art was a lifelong friend going back to our days at Clinton Grammar School in West Rogers Park. Remember those pleasurable days well. In later years played poker with him occasionally and others from that neighborhood. My condolences to his family. He will be sorely missed.

My father William Holland worked in the Senators office on Western Ave. He always held the Senator in the highest esteem. As an educator I want to thank him for his efforts. I wish to offer my condolences to his wife and family

I was honored to have Art as a colleague in the Illinois legislature and as a friend. He was a brilliant and devoted public servant for decades and a leader not only in education issues, but a leader in getting anything accomplished that was worth getting accomplished in the Illinois General Assembly. He was the Senate sponsor of the Holocaust Education Law that required teaching about the events leading up to the Holocaust and of the suffering it brought to world Jewry and to the world. Illinois became the first state in America to require teaching about the Holocaust in elementary and high schools thanks to Arts leadership. Art was a true leader and will be greatly missed.
Fran joins me in sending our deepest condolences to Barbara and to Arts children and grandchildren. He loved you so.

Art was a great colleague and a great supporter of public education. We worked together on several pieces of legislation. He was one of the best!

Art was a unique individual who blended all that was good---his family, his friends, his public service, his concern for those less fortunate than him. A hell of a tennis player with his long reach made him tough to beat. As a public servant, he was impossible to beat----22 elections without a defeat must be a record. He will be missed by family, friends and colleagues.
