To AT, Steve and Mark;
So sorry to hear about your Dad. I had the pleasure of "knowing" him as a young kid does and then while growing into an age where AT and I could get into enough trouble that he could scare the . . . Well. He always seemed like a great guy and a main part of the planetary system that included Grandpa Marzullo, Uncle Tom and the beautiful, gracious, lively and fun Nancy (of course I would never have called her that - or even thought of her as that - always Mrs, Marzullo). They were a part of my growing up in The Park and well, I loved them.
My Mom and Dad (Helen and Duke) passed away awhile back now so I know about the hurt and sadness part. But there is also the memory part and the part where you start recognizing stuff. Stuff directly from - excuse me - Mrs. Marzullo and Mr. Marzullo - as they pop up in yourselves and THEIR grandkids. These surprising and happy recognitions will be walking hand-in-hand with the hurt and sadness.
Anyway, sorry guys. On a nice sunny day why not offer up to his memory a prime tee-time at Ridge and a great lunch afterwords at the Grill.

It was an honor to have known Arnie and to have played golf with him at Ridge CC. He was a credit to the game and always a gentleman on and off the course. (He was damn good too!)
By pure happenstance I was at the club on an evening several years ago when he was hosting a dinner for some members of his army outfit from WWII and their wives in a private room. I was invited to come and meet them for a moment to express my thanks for all they had done to defend my freedom even though I hadn't even been born when they put themselves in harms way for all of us.
Arnie introduced me to all those in attendance and was the epitome of a gentleman and a true hero.
Even If I live as long as Arnie I will never forget that evening.
I am very sad that I will be unable to attend the service to celebrate his life.
God Speed Mr. Marzullo, your life was a blessing.

Sending my deepest condolences to The Marzullo Family.
I used to see Mr. Marzullo every Sunday morning having breakfast at Veli's Kofy Kup in Oak Lawn. He was always such a friendly gentleman, never without a smile.
May all of the wonderful memories that you have of him bring you comfort during this most difficult time.

Deeply saddened to hear of Arnie's passing. He was a colorful and charming next door neighbor in Evergreen and was always funny. I will miss him as I did Nancy.

Though my parents had known Arnie and Nancy for many years at Ridge Country Club, I only met Arnie after he moved to Smith Village. I came to enjoy long conversations with him and was always happy for his company. What a sweet, fun and interesting man! My mother has told me many times how very much I would have enjoyed Nancy, too.
When Arnie moved to his wing on the third floor at Smith, he lucked into acquiring two great new friends just down the hall. Pat Roach and Alberta Kosik know how to be good neighbors because they were just that and more for many years on Hamilton Avenue. These two women, who share a wonderful sense of humor, immediately took Arnie under their wing. It was a really good fit.
Soon the three of them, with Elaine Spencer and my parents, Bob and Marilyn Stone, were eating together most nights in the Smith Village dining room. Wine is always on their table (which is not the only reason I happily join in whenever I can. :)
So one evening not long ago Pat and Alberta were clucking over Arnie about wearing his seatbelt while driving (something he was not wont to do.) He sat there good-naturedly squirming in his seat - groaning but smiling, too. My mother was sitting directly across the table from Arnie with a big grin on her face. Arnie looked up at her, as if to say, "What are YOU grinning at?" and she said, "Nancy is up there LAFFFF-ing at this!!!" And good ol' Arnie, he nodded his head in agreement and laughed right along, too.
So Arnie, I have faith you're finally up there with Nancy now, both of you young and lively, laughing all over again.
With deep sadness for Arnie's family at their loss of this very fine man.
