Dear Ginny and family,
I just learned of the death of your husband and father. His death leaves a void for you and the medical community. My thoughts are with all of you. May your happy memories overcome your sorrow. Ruth

Dear Orlina Family,
My father, Dr. Rufino Pabico, is an old, dear friend of your family. My father told me of your loss, and I am very sorry to hear of Dr. Orlina's passing. Dr. Orlina had taken care of me when I lived in the Phillipines and was very sick as a baby. I never, as an adult, had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Orlina. But if I had, I would have thanked him for the wonderful medical care and attention he gave me. It is the selfless people such as Dr. Orlina who have helped others - and that goes beyond being a physician. It is being a humanitarian who shall be fondly remembered with a smile. Bless his soul, and I hope for strength and happiness to your family.

Your have my most sincere wishes that God will help you during this time of sorrow. May you find comfort in knowing to many outside the immediate family he was a GREAT man with a good heart and a love of sharing his knowlege. As he touched each person's life, I am sure he has left a lasting impression. He most surely fulfilled the reason God placed him on this earth. He will be missed.
You are in my prayers as you deal with this great loss.

Dear Ginny and Family: I have only the best memories of Armando and the time we spent studying and learning lots in Chicago-land. I know he wants you to continue to learn all the lessons of the heart! May you know the peace of his presence! cham

The blood banking community in Illinois and the nation have lost a great voice. We have all benefited from Dr. Orlina's expertise and practical experience, and thousands of patients are alive because of the transfusions his lab provided and the training he gave to so many in our field. My deepest condolences to the Orlina family.

Our thoughts are with each of you during these difficult days of remembrance. It was a privilege to serve at Michael Reese with Armando for all those very special years. Others will more eloquently characterize Armando's career but none will more sincerely express their admiration for his skills and dedication. We hope the days ahead will bring you peace and healing hearts.

A luminary in Transfusion Medicine, Armando was hardly an unapproachable academic medical center physician. The fact that he came from the discipline of pediatrics, rather than pathology, gave him (and us) a different view of our profession. He was always available for consultation with his colleagues and one could learn so much in just minutes of conversation. Warm and humorous, bright and iconoclastic, Armando had the broadest smile..and the strongest handshake in the Chicagoland blood banking community.
And to his family, my condolences. What a joy Ginny and the children were for him. Paalam, Armando.
