Arlene Quagliano Obituary

Quagliano, Arlene R. Morrie Schwartz wrote, "The way you get meaning into life is to devote yourself to loving others, devote yourself to your community around you and devote yourself to creating something that has purpose and meaning." Arlene found that purpose and meaning through her devotion to others. She was a devoted wife of Richard for 52 years and now happily rejoins him after his passing, Arlene was a devoted mother to Richard (Deborah), Joan (Mike) Morris, Roger (Lynda) Mark (Lois), Susan (Terry) Dean, Alene (Tim) Egan and the late Laura, she was a dedicated grandmother to Matt (Rebecca) Michael, Andrea, Jessica (Aldo), Rebekah, Anthony, Marty, Katie, Brian, Sam, Carly, Chris and Elliott, she was also the attentive daughter of the late John and Rose Galas and the loving sister to Leonard (Leona) Galas, Arlene was sister-in-law to Eileen (Jim) Patton, Katie (Bob) Till, the late Lucille (Bob) Figiel, Roger (Gail) and Carol (Rich) Van Durme and many nephews and nieces, she was also a great friend to Jack, Janet, Dolly and Mary and a member of the Stardusters at Foreman High School. It was Arlene's devotion to others that earned her the nickname "The Hot Dog Lady". Arlene was also an avid bowler, bingo and card player and enjoyed many nights with family and friends in a game of pinochle or rummy. Arlene also loved to entertain and was comfortable with family and friends gathered around her dining room table. She also loved to travel and was as comfortable abroad as she was on her own sofa. Arlene worked at Madigans and will be remembered for her work in the Cook County Clerk's office where she had the privilege and pleasure to process many wedding licenses and birth certificates. I still remember many lively conversations that Arlene would have with her guests, on happy family occasions. She enjoyed and lived life to the fullest, as was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and mother-in-law. her hospitality and infectious laugh, generosity, and love of her family and guests always made you feel special in her home. These are unique attributes indeed, for which I personally will always remember her. Even though I was not privileged to spend too much time with her in later years, I remember her as a memorable, loving, and wonderful person. Please accept my most profound condolences on your loss.

Yours sincerely,
Kathleen Morris

To the Arlene and Richard Quagliano Family,
We wish to express our deepest sympathy to all of you. Though it has been years since our sledding and snowmobiling days of the 1970's in the Northwoods of Wisconsin,we still look at the pictures and home movies because those times with our family and your family were and are very precious to us. Somehow,we feel your Mom and Dad together with Laura, our dad,Bill Alexander (BILLY A.), and our sister,Patti have had a joyous reunion already in Heaven.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you,
The Bill Alexander Family

Mom,
Thank you for all that you have done for me and my family these past 50+ year. You have taught me to be a loving wife, devoted mother and a loyal friend. You have also taught me to embrace color, never miss an opportunity to make a new freind, choose compassion, sing in the car and never miss the chance to add an extra handful of nuts to any recipe. It has been a long and diffucult 2 years. I am happy that you will be with Dad and I'm glad that Laura will finally have the oppotunity to be held by her mother. I LOVE YOU----JQM

My deepest sympathy to your family, I was so sorry when I heard the news about Arlene. I worked with her at the Clerks office for many years, she was a great person. There were many times when she gave me advice like a mother would and I really respected that. I had not seen her in many years but thought about her often. I know the pain you are going through because I recently lost my mom and dad and I have been told that time will help with the pain. Having faith has helped me through to this point. I will keep you in my prayers and remember your mom and dad are together watching over you. You now have your own angels in heaven.

Mom,
You taught me how to be a Wife, Mother, and a True Friend. We have shared countless good and bad times together, and I would not trade a minute of it. All the meals we enjoyed with Dad, Tim, Marty, Brian, and Carly, showed me the importance of Family, and what precious little time we all have. We shared our home with you, and in return you gave my children a gift that will last with them forever. I like to think we made a difference. I will always love, and miss you.
