Dear DeVito Family: I just heard of Ant's passing and am sending my best wishes to you as your heart is heavy with sorrow. I went to Wright College with him way back in the late 70s and was fortunate enough to have him as a friend. We had a really fun group back then, and kept in touch every few years. God rest his soul.

Dear Grace, Rosemarie, Lonnie, and Tonia - We are so sorry for your loss, but we are so grateful for the time we had together with Anthony. We'll never forget the parties, the Dells, Michigan, etc...And, I know that Anthony will always continue to be with us. He was definitely one of a kind and that's what we admired most about him. Deep down, he was just a big teddy bear with a heart of gold.

Dear cousins Grace, Rosemarie, Lonnie and Tonia-
When we moved into the Wauconda area, I noticed a restaurant near Lake Zurich called "Taylor Street Cafe' ". This brought a smile and chuckle to my face because I knew exactly why it was named the way it was. When my parents lived here, they would always talk fondly about “Telor Strit” (yes, that’s Italian for Taylor Street!) It was always with anticipation that we would make the trip your house, which, to my surprise, was not on Taylor but actually on Bishop Street. The family and friends gatherings were always so festive and warm and everyone was always welcome. And, Anthony… well what can I say about Anthony. He had a way with words - he pulled no punches and he let everyone know what he was thinking. He was part of the colorful zest that your gatherings brought to life. Anthony will be sorely missed just as your dear dad (Zi Peppin) and dear mom (Zi Annin) are sorely missed.
Anthony: thanks for brightening the life of everyone you touched. We love you buddy and we are consoled in knowing that soon Mt. Carmel will change forever. Soon we will hear your voice calling everyone over to you dad’s baked pasta dishes and your Mom’s desserts tables! May the Lord always be with you. With love, your cousins Tonio, Mary, Michael, Cristina and Annalisa.

Dear Gracie,Rose,Lonnie & Tonia,
My family and I are deeply saddened and crushed by the loss of Anthony,he will be greatly missed by all of us. He was a lifelong, childhood friend of mine. From the first day of school at Our Lady of Pompeii, through high school, to the Bishop St. days and beyond it was one wild and crazy ride, one that was cut way to short. The guys and I suffered a great loss, one that could never be replaced. Anthony, You and your family took all of us in and made us feel like we were part of your family, Your house was like a second home to all of us,and I will always remember that. The memories I have will last a lifetime. A part of all of us was sadly taken that day, for our crew will never be the same again. Like Jackie Gleason used to say to Art Carney, SO LONG PAL..........

Anthony-You are one in a million, no one in a billion. You taught me so much. You always had all the time in the world.
I have a long fuse
You have a short one
I speak softly
You bellow loudly
I patiently suffer with a poorly working cell phone
You throw yours against the wall and move on
Ellen and I will always cherish the friendship we had with you.
There is no doubt that you are one of the few very honest, direct and sincere people that you could meet.
Sympathy to the family that loved you and you loved

Dear Godmother Grace & Rosemary:
We are very sorry for the loss of your loving brother and our wonderful cousin Anthony. He touched all of our lives in very unique and special ways. I will always have great memories of growing up in Chicago and being part of the family reunions or holiday parties at the Devitos’. I can still visualize gathering around the kitchen table surrounded by great Aunts, Uncles, Godparents and cousins while feasting on generous platters of delicious food, drinks and desserts. Cousin Anthony was always the life of the party with his funny jokes or interesting stories. As a young kid, I will never forget driving to Little Italy with my father to visit the “Taylor Street” family… Our first stop was always at the Deli to have a big salami sandwich, to spend time with Uncle Joe and to watch him make Italian sausage as he reminisced about his childhood in Valenzano. Of course, Cousin Anthony could always be heard in the background greeting or cursing at the clientele. After each visit, he always made it a point to give me special treats while offering advice and words of wisdom in his blunt (but loving), Anthony way… To Anthony, “Thank you for being a great inspiration and a special cousin. We love you, miss you and will never forget you, we will forever cherish all of the great memories we have and the great times we've shared” Our thoughts and prayers are with you. With much love, your cousins, Frank, Julie and Siena Vitucci

What can I say cous Anthony? You were very unique in life, all way to the dramatic end of it. That quality you had, coupled with your uncanny sense of humor and larger than life generous heart touched sooo many people…I don’t know what you can see from up there cous..…If you are able to see, you will realize that your life on earth has been a precious gift to so many who are now feeling your tremendous loss, especially your dear sisters Gracie and Rosemary. I have great faith that we will all meet someday, sit around the eternal big table, eat, drink, laugh, joke and why not cry a little too just like the good old days.
With all my affection, this is not Addio but Arrivederci Anthony - I love you!

Dear DeVito Family,
My best recollections of Anthony are when I would go over to Falbo's and order my Italian sub. It always seems that when I was there Anthony was there with a cheerful greeting wanting to know how I was doing. Over the years I had come to love and appreciate him. Warmest regards and prayers to you, his family, he'll be well remembered by many.

Dear DeVito's
I'm sorry about the heart break. I didn't know Anthony as well as I wanted to. I always looked at him as a proud man. To the DeVito Family,
I'm so sorry for the loss of your brother. I only knew Anthony for a very brief time, he came to Ixtapa with Chris and me.....he was the life of the trip. I'll always remember him going down the slide by the pool and screaming and then he was snoring so loud that he woke me and Chris up every night around 2......he was our personal alarm clock....Well i'm so sure that lots of people have their memories of Anthony and this is mine....so I just wanted to share that with you and bring a smile to your faces....now he's in a better place without any more pain and unpleasantness. Always know that he'll be in your hearts no matter what.....keep the faith and try to have a good new year....
