Anne Pickney, 81, a long-time Whitesboro resident, received her new life in Christ on Friday, February 5, 2010, at The Martin Luther Home in Clinton. She was born in Schenectady on December 12, 1928, to Adolph and Sophia Gronkowski. After graduating from Mont Pleasant High School, Anne worked as a secretary for General Electric. She married Robert A. Pickney in 1953 and the couple later moved to Whitesboro. After many years as a homemaker, Anne became a legal secretary and office manager for the firm of Longeretta and Longeretta until retirement. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Tom Connell, and a beloved grandson, Seth Connell, all of Selden, NY; two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; five nieces and two nephews; and several dear friends and neighbors. Anne was predeceased by her husband, Robert, and seven brothers and sisters. Anne will be remembered for her good humor, her excellent secretarial skills, her love of shopping, and her kind and generous spirit. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of the Katherine Luther Rehabilitation Center and Martin Luther Home for their compassionate care during Anne's final weeks. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 8, at 1:00 PM at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc., 35 College Street, Clinton. Relatives and friends may call from 11:00 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be held in St. Marys Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
