Anna Gilliam Obituary
October 25, 1941 – December 1, 2015
Loving wife and dedicated Mom, Anna Matherne Gilliam, age 74, passed away peacefully with her family by her side. She graduated from W.B. Ray High School in Corpus Christi, TX. and received her Associate degree in Administration from Del Mar College. After 30 plus years of dedicated service, she retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. Anna was an active member of the Bexar County Republican Party. She was a kind and gentle soul who had a passion for traveling, loved the beach, enjoyed the ocean with 13 cruises, many road trips to her favorite spot ~ Salado, TX, was an avid reader and loved life. Her number one priority was her family, sharing her love and heart with her only daughter, Loralei; and her furry, feline friend "Rowdy". Anna never met a stranger, throughout her life, she continued her friendships from high school to people she met on her cruises. Friday nights were special "Friday Shakey, Shakey Night", friends would gather for a shake of the martini and drinks! Anna is preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her beloved husband of 35 years, Marco Louis Gilliam, her loving daughter, Loralei Ann Gilliam; siblings: Michael Matherne, Daniel Matherne (Louella), Margaret Murphree (Paul), Catherine Gorrell (Greg), Guy Matherne, Ronnie Matherne (Leila), numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, wonderful friends and neighbors. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to A.H.H.A. Associates Home Health Care for their compassion and kindness extended to Anna. A Chapel Service will be held on Saturday, December 5th at 6:00 PM at Porter Loring on McCullough. Loralei and Pops -- she was a gentle soul, always so sweet during all of my sleepovers, proms and dances. I was always at home when spending time with you and family. Anna's legacy is the AMAZING marriage she had with Marco, and the most wonderful daughter she raised in Loralei. I was grateful to help when packing some of the family belongings before her move to Franklin. It gave us a chance to relieve some of my most treasured memories. You are each in my heart and prayers.

My big sister was a very compassionate, loving person. I always loved being with her and Marco, singing at La Fagota... always laughing, cooking and of course Shakey Shakey. Wonderful fun trips to Fredericksburg, TX going to Dooley's and going down the "Step In " isle.The times at the Mayan Princess on the beach, oh what fun we all had.I am going to miss you so much, I love you
