Anna Campbell Obituary

Anna Louise Campbell, 89, died Aug. 25, 2009, at the Anchorage Pioneer's Home. Her family wrote that she has gone to be with the Lord. A celebration of life service will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Anchorage Pioneer's Home, on the fifth floor in the Tundra Lounge. Anna was born June 21, 1920, in Queen Ann County, Md. She lived on a farm until she moved to Baltimore with her mother and brother. Delaware, New Mexico, and Arizona were a few places where she resided before making her way north to Alaska, where she was a resident since 1987. She then moved to the Anchorage Pioneer's Home in 1999. "Her primary occupation throughout her life was nursing," her family recalled. "She loved helping others, especially the babies she cared for on the newborn ward. Her children Pat, Gordon, and Charlotte always remained her priority and she was a wonderful mother who sacrificed and worked hard to provide for them. Throughout her long life, she was happy and content with whatever life had to throw at her. It was a pleasure just to be in the same room with her. Anna always gave credit to the Lord Jesus Christ for her happiness and peace of mind. She continued to help others while living at the Pioneer's Home, teaching knitting and crocheting to the staff and residents. Anna made baby blankets and thousands of hats that were given away to those in need in the Anchorage area. The blessings she bestowed on her family, friends, and many others are immeasurable. Anna will be missed by many." She was preceded in death by her oldest daughter, Pat Brown. Anna is survived by her son, Gordon Campbell and his wife, Linda; daughter, Charlotte Campbell and son in-law, Larry Brown; grandchildren, Craig Brown, Ross Campbell, Cari and her husband, Charles McCubrey, Coleen Campbell and fiance, Scott Hodges; and great-grandchildren, Ashlyn and Braedon McCubrey. "We all loved our Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma very much and will miss her until we meet again," her family added.

I met Anna when she moved into the Anchorage Pioneers' Home.
The way she lived life was wonderful and inspirational. In good times she thanked Jesus and in not so good times she let Jesus take care of it all.
She loved crocheting and knitting, and she taught many people on third floor in the afternoons.
I met her family and I was not surprised that they were reflections of Anna. She was blessed and a blessing! She will be remembered by many.
Love you Anna!!
