HIGH POINT - Mrs. Ann Griffin Slate, 57, died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003, at the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. She was born April 24, 1945, in Forsyth County to Wilmer Allen and Addie Warren Griffin. Mrs. Slate was employed with Forsyth County Social Services. She was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Lee Allen. Surviving are her husband, Bobby Slate of the home; a daughter, Leigh Ann Malcolm of High Point; three stepchildren, Terry Slate of Apex, Michael Slate of Roswell, Ga., and Tammy Slate of High Point; four grandchildren, Meagan Malcolm, Victoria Malcolm, Madison Slate and Taylor Slate; four sisters, Linda Bolen of Advance, Sandra Lowry of Winston-Salem, Regina Huffman of Clemmons and Pam Royall of Lexington; and two brothers, Richard Griffin of Franklinton and Larry Griffin of Lexington. A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Forsyth Memorial Park, with the Rev. Elwood Faircloth officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 this evening at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
