Angelo B. Arnold
Angelo B. Arnold, 83, of Chicago, IL, passed away on January 6, 2025, surrounded by family.
Angelo was born in Chicago in 1941 to William and Beverly Thelma Arnold, and despite living as far south as possible within the City of Chicago, he became a Cubs fan. Angelo attended Carver High School and Chicago Teachers College and had a long teaching career. Angelo taught at Beethoven Elementary School, a Chicago Public School, where he met his wife, Barbara Griego, and he taught at St. Michael the Archangel. Other jobs included tending bar and sorting mail at the historic Old Chicago Main Post Office. Angelo and Barbara also taught classes at the Native American Educational Services (NAES) College.
Angelo was preceded in death by his parents William "Bill" and Beverly Thelma, wife Barbara Ann "Bobby" Griego Arnold, siblings Honey, Moderi, Anthony "Little Red," Tawana, Yvonne, and grandchildren Byron and Kerasea.
Angelo is survived by siblings Willliam "Billy Boy," Jerome "Romeo," Margo, Renee, Sylvia "Sweet," Ramona Latonga, Augustus Julio Finn, Russell Prince, Salome, and Namon, children Ola "Muffin", Angelo Byron, Angela, Maria, and Christina, grandchildren Shilena, Ty, Kanyla, Meca, Tiffany, Valaya, Sean, and Elena, and several great-grandchildren.
Angelo loved spending time with family in Chicago, around the country, even the world. Angelo had a gift for chatting with and charming people wherever he went. He was kindhearted, protective, and gave his loved ones their individual time with him. To really know Angelo was to love Angelo.
Angelo's life was filled with his passion for music: classical, opera, blues, and "Top 40" pop. His interests included meteorology, Shakespeare, tennis, and he was a voracious reader.
The Funeral Mass for Angelo will be held Saturday, February 22, 2025 at:
St. Thomas the Apostle Church

What a wonderful picture this is of your dad,Angelo. We remember with great fondness our conversations with your dad when we would drop off the girls or pick them up from Lab School activities. Angelo loved his family so much. We pray that you will cherish that love and the times that you spent together. Thinking of you with love and sending prayers for comfort and peace .

It was an honor to be with Angelo and his closest family members in his last week of life. His gentle love and dedication to his family were evident in the great love they had for him. He is deeply missed and will be remembered fondly.

I met Angelo in California when he visited to hear his daughter Angela perform. He was a very engaging conversationalist. I'll never forget the warm, enraptured look on his face when he heard her voice. My most sincere condolences to all of Angelo's family; I know you were blessed by his presence in your lives. Rest in eternal life, Angelo.
