Amy Zlotnick Obituary

Amy Zlotnick, 86, died on April 15th after a short illness. She was the wife of the late Jack Zlotnick who died in 1987.

Mrs. Zlotnick was born Amy Prescott Wild in Somerville, Massachusetts and later lived most of her childhood in Medford, Massachusetts. Amy also spent summers of her youth at her grandfather’s home along Bass River on Cape Cod.

Mrs. Zlotnick was a graduate of Boston University. She later served in the American Red Cross during World War II, stationed in front-line hospitals throughout New Guinea and the South Pacific. Mrs. Zlotnick lived in Falls Church, Virginia for much of her adult life, where she held various positions in the social and mental health industry. She was also active in local politics and the League of Women Voters. She returned to Cape Cod in 1989.

Throughout her life, Mrs. Zlotnick lived in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan; Tokyo, Japan; Lewes, Delaware; Princeton, New Jersey and Tucson, Arizona.

She had a lifelong instinct for learning and was active in the Academy of Lifelong Learning. She sung with the Mid-Cape Chorus and she was an active member of the Red Hat Society.

Mrs. Zlotnick had a remarkable zest for life. She attended over 30 Elderhostel programs in her retirement. With her husband, and later with friends, she traveled extensively to all the continents of the earth. Indeed, just two months ago she completed a trip to Antarctica.

She is survived by her son: Steve and his wife, Candace, of Saratoga Springs, New York; two granddaughters: Hannah and Abby both of New York; her brother Al Wild and his wife, Pat of Dennis, MA and many nieces, nephews and extended family throughout the world.

Her family invited all her relatives and friends to visit her home at 689 Oak Street, West Barnstable anytime between 2:00 – 6:00 PM on Monday, April 19, 2004 to honor and celebrate her extraordinary life.

Memorial donations may be made to the Academy of Lifelong Learning, 2240 Iyanough Road, West Barnstable, MA 02668 of to the charity of your choice.
