He was the judge in my sister's case and was obviously an intelligent man who knew the law. One of the few good ones at Markham. What a tremendous loss for the legal system and his family. My condolences.

With his perpetual grin, dispensed humor with a caustic wit. Didn't suffer fools gladly. Sympathetic to the great cause or idea and always ready for intellectual discourse.
Remembering countless dialogues in the TV room, afternoons at the OTB, and Christmas Eves at the Murphy house. You will forever be my golf pro of Evergreen Park golf course. Classic Al Murphy will have an exceptionally, singular meaning for me and those who knew him.
I shall miss you, Allen; the world now bein' less interesting.

I first had the honor of meeting Allen several years ago as a Chicago police detective when he was a Cook County Assistant State's Attorney. He was fair and knew his law. His present will be missed.

There is a hole in the heart of the Markham Courthouse that used to be filled by the steadfast and loyal Judge Allen F. Murphy. He was so gentle and kind, modest and unassuming in his legal brilliance. Thank you for your service and dedication to the robe and all it represents with regard to safety in the rule of law and compassion by the rule of the heart. You accomplished both Judge Allen, and as such we pray that you are saved by Grace and ushered into heaven with Christ the Lord. Judge Joyce Marie Gorman of the Markham Courthouse.
