Church Hill, TN – Allen M. Ball
Allen Mearl Ball, 79, of Church Hill, TN passed away Monday, September 24, 2012 at his residence.
Mr. Ball was born December 25, 1932, in Scott County, VA. He was the son of the late Guy Ball and Myrtle McConnell Ball.
Mr. Ball proudly served his country for over 20 years in the United States Air Force. He served during both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He retired after a career of military service. Mr. Ball was member of the VFW and the DAV.
Mr. Ball was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Sylvia L. Ball; 3 brothers, and 2 sisters.
Survivors of Allen M. Ball include 4 sons, Gene Allen Ball and wife Linda (Church Hill, TN), Ronnie Ball (Church Hill, TN), Donnie F. Ball (Church Hill, TN), and Jimmy L. Ball and wife Judy (Church Hill, TN); several grandchildren; 2 sisters, Shirley McClellan (Kingsport, TN), and Helen Knuckles (Indianapolis, IN); several nieces and nephews; many, many friends.
The family of Allen M. Ball will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 28, 2012 at Colonial Funeral Home (Weber City, VA). Funeral services, officiated by Rev. Kenneth Neeley, Rev. Bill Tignor, and Rev. Gorman McMurray, will begin at 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Music will be provided by the McMurray Brothers.
Military graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at Glenwood Cemetery (Hiltons, VA). Military honors will be provided by Hawkins County Color Guard Post #7954. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at Colonial Funeral Home at 12:00 noon.
