Kirkland, Judge Alfred Y. 86, of Elgin, beloved husband of the late Gwendolyn, loving father of Pamela K. (Wayne) Jensen, Alfred Y. (Janine) Kirkland Jr. and James M. (Noreen) Kirkland, cherished grandfather of 16 and great-grandfather of five. Senior Judge on the United States District Court, retired on medical disability. Graduate of University of Illinois and University of Illinois Law School. 1973 appointed judgeship in Kane County Circuit Court, 1974 appointed to United States District Court by President Gerald Ford. Past President of Illinois State Bar Association, Kane County Bar Association and Elgin Bar Association. Member of Law Club of Chicago, Legal Club of Chicago, International Association of Insurance Counsel, Past Chairman of Illinois Bar Foundation, Director of American Judicature Society, Society of Trail Lawyers of America. Memorial Visitation Tuesday, March 23, 2004, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St. (Rt. 31), Elgin. In lieu of flowers memorials to charity of ones choice. 847-741-8800
