Rakosy, Alexander W. "Alex" September 6, 2004, of Oak Lawn, beloved husband of the late Jeannie Rakosy (nee Farmer), loving brother of the late John A. Funeral Saturday, 9:45 a.m., from Donnellan Funeral Home, 10525 S. Western Ave., to St. Germaine Church, 4240 W. 98th St., Oak Lawn, IL. Mass 10:30 a.m. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Visitation Friday, 3 to 9 p.m. Alex was a photomicroscopist and a Cytologist who studied under Dr. George Papanicolau who developed the Pap Smear. Alex set up Cytology laboratories at St. Bernard, St. George, Englewood, South Shore, Roseland and Holy Cross Hospitals. Mr. Rakosy had photo microscopy exhibits at the Chicago Academy of Sciences and from there the exhibits traveled throughout the United States. Alex was a friend and mentor to me. When I saw his exhibit at the Academy, I had to meet him. Whenever I would visit him I was always impressed with his talent and works of art he created with a microscope. He was a scientist extraordinaire.
