Alexander F. Barrios, of Lafayette, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, February 20, 2013. Alex was born in Richmond, CA on April 24, 1934, the son of John and Maria Barrios. His final days were spent with his family surrounding him, and he touched the lives of many through his lifetime.
Alex served in the U.S. Air Force in the South Pacific during the Korean War. He worked for over 30 years at the Mare Island Naval Shipyard in Vallejo, California, retiring in 1990 as the Supervisor of Electrical Shop 51.
Alex is survived by his wife of 52 years Beverly Barrios; brother John Barrios; three daughters, Alexis Hinds, Andrea Todd and Allison Biel, one son, Stephen Barrios; seven grandchildren, Ryan and Julia Hinds, Adam and Alex Todd, Jack and Max Biel and Ethan Barrios.
Alex was a good man who enjoyed Christian fellowship. He was a great father who loved his family and always put the needs of his children first. Alex had a passion for the San Francisco 49ers and fixing cars, including Corvettes.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, February 28th, 2013 at 10:30 AM in the Christ the King Catholic Church, 199 Brandon Road, Pleasant Hill, CA 94523. The burial will be immediately following the service at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 1965 Reliez Valley Road, Lafayette, CA 94549. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Alex's memory to the Northern California Chapter of the American Alzheimer's Association.
