Albert Robin Obituary

Robin, Albert A. beloved husband of Anita, loving father of Stephen (Connee), Richard (Linda) and the late Linda Miller, dear brother of Roslyn Lyon, cherished grandfather of Bonnie, Rochelle, Jennifer, Jaclyn, Neal and Jason and fond great-grandfather of Rhianna, Caleigh, Leigh, Lindsay and Ryan, passed away at the age of 95 on March 8, 2007. Mr. Robin was the eldest of the four children of Max and Belle Robin. As one of Chicago's most visionary Real Estate Developers during the latter half of the 20th Century, Mr. Robin developed some of the most recognizable buildings in the city, including the Carlyle at 1040 N. Lake Shore Dr., The Warwick at 1501 N. State, Parkway, and 4250 N. Marine Dr. He was also a co-developer of Carl Sandburg Village. In addition to his business pursuits, Mr. Robin also made time for philanthropic work. His notable contributions include The Robin Scholarship Foundation at Roosevelt University, which has helped hundreds of students pursue a college education, as well as the University's Schaumburg Campus, which bears his name. A long-time patron of the arts, Mr. Robin dedicated a wing at the Art Institute of Chicago and was a founding member and life trustee of the Museum of Contemporary Art. Mr. Robin was preceded in death by his first wife, Constance Robin, to whom he was married for over 50 years, as well as two of his sisters, Eleanor (T.G.) Robin and Ruth Kulwin. Private services were held in Rancho Mirage, CA. A Memorial Service will be held on April 22, 2007, at Bryn Mawr Country Club, 6600 N. Crawford Ave., Lincolnwood, IL, at 2 p.m. Contribtions may be made to the Jewish United Fund.

Albert A. Robin was a long-time supporter of the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel. His support made tremendous impact on scientific research. He was a great man from a great Chicago family. Our sincere condolences in your loss.

Dear Anita: I returned this morning to the awareness of Al's passing. As we shared an interest in Roosevelt University and in several projects for the university. His many contributions are a tribute to his dedication to Chicago that will endure. With my deepest thoughts.
