To My Dear Brother,
I miss you tremendously; you were such a big part of my life. I miss our good times, eating out and going numerous places. I recall when I was a little girl (4 1/2 years old) you took me to my first opera. I remember when you would meet me in Chicago and we would go down to the dock near Lake Michigan and get the best shrimp and then to a small little restaurant on 55th street to get the greasiest polish sausages. You would tell my daughter ShaNita she could not have any because she was not old enough to appreciate the joy of eating a polish sausage. I recall you coming to Georgia after your surgery and my son Bryan came over every day to walk you around the track to help in your re-cooperation. I recall us just sitting around the kitchen table drinking coffee and reminiscing with Mother. I remember you saying the last time we talked that we must stay close.
You were my best friend and we held each other up in good and sad times. Now I am standing on the wings of prayer and basically alone. I think about you daily and try to recall the good times. I have to close now to stop the tears because I can no longer see how to type.
Sonny I miss you so much!!!! I cannot believe all but one of my sisters (Neda) and brothers are gone. All I have is memories of our good times.
Always,
Your Baby Sis,
Jean

My favorite memories of Jeff are about our fishing trips. For many years Jeff talked about techniques and equipment for fishing. On an actual boat, Jeff continued to talk about techniques and equipment. While we struggled with our loads of fish getting off the boat, Jeff, with his catch in one hand, continued to talk about techniques and equipment. On the trip home, we started to take our naps as Jeff told us about the techniques and equipment he'll use on our next fishing trip. Jeff we really miss you!

Jeff....Al Jeffries was my man. He taught me so many things, its to difficult to put into words, so I decided a long time ago, before he left on his eternal journey to spread his love for teaching to every 'young person' I come into contact with. Besides printing, photography, publishing, media and politics, Jeff taught me how to share your knowledge with others. I will continue to love and respect him by always passing it on. He was also truly the man behind the scenes at MARK IV DISCO.

I received this e-mail today and viewed a photo of Sonny. When I looked at it I saw my Aunt Delia. I also saw the face that was him as he was leaving to drive back to New Jersey form Aunt Delia's apartment. He kept going back and forth to the car. There was something that seemed to say he wanted to get one last look before leaving. I got to know him in the latter years and he loved talking about photography and his equipment. And he would comment on how he walked everyday. A photographer at heart, I'm sure he took some very pituresque photos. And yes a snazzy dresser. You'll always be remembered.

In 1974 when I was a very young woman who suddenly had a very big job with the City of Newark, I met Al Jeffries. Over the next 12 years that we worked together I thought of Jeff as "my photographer" "my printer". Photos that I used on "Newark & Reality" were photos by Jeff. Photos that were in the "Information" newspaper were photos by Jeff. We spent a few days sampling the cuisine of restaurants throughout the Ironbound in preparation for a show on restaurants. I learned about photography and setting up shots. We dealt in black and white photos then and color's arrival was nice but not as creative. We worked on a calendar for Newark's anniversary and it ended up in the Library of Congress - with printing by Al Jeffries. And yes there were those evenings after work when everyone gathered for drinks and conversation. And a good time was had by all. I had not seen Jeff in 20 years. I hold memories of a man who taught me a great deal and for that I am eternally grateful. My prayers are continuous for his family and my thanks for sharing a wonderful man with the world.

Dad, was and will always be my hero. He had style, class and always carried himself as a gentleman. He picked and chose his battles carefully and never believed in quitting. He believed that knowledge is power but the failure to use properly knowledge can be self destructive. He understood what life is about and used his time to live it to the fullest. He loved is friends, his family and most people he met however, he believed that loving someone was something that he had to do - likeing someone was his choice; and if he liked you, he would do anything for you. Those that really knew him were truly blessed, those that didn't missed a great opportunity. I'll miss my dad but I am so glad that God chose him to be my dad. That experience was the most wonderful thing that could have ever happened to me.

I never knew Sonny's real name until Aunt Delia passed. Seems like all of my aunts had a sonny in their family. This Sonny was a classy gent, quiet spoken. Loved taking pictures, I am told. I remember him telling stories around Jean's kitchen table. One memory still touches my heart when he told Aunt Delia that she couldn't go because he'd known her all his life.(his mother) That expression of love will hold true for those of us that are left. The lives he has touched are to go on just as his memory will be etched in our hearts. To rejoice with the saints and take one big photo with his favorite camera from the best vantage point ever....Heaven. Peace to my cousins in your bereavement; take care to love each other all the more because of this loss.

Jeff was a intelligent, gentle,

I'm so sorry to hear about Jeff's passing. I have so many memories of Jeff and I sitting at Chateau of Spain together as I just sat a listened to him reminisce about his youth, his days as a photographer, his travels, his car, and so many other great memories he shared of his life. I would just sit and listen and not say a word. He just wanted to tell his story. He was like a grandfather to me. I admired his style and the way he carried himself. He lived a good life. He was proud. I always worried about him when I wouldn't see him for long periods and would always ask where he was. I can think of many days that I went down to Spains for the sole purpose of checking up on him. He would talk about his cameras, his son, moving (he was finally coming around with that one!) whatever was on his mind. I'm really going to miss seeing him and feel fortunate to have known him. Albert Jeffries will long be remembered and respected for his charm, gentle nature, and many other great attributes. My deepest sympathy goes out to all his loved ones.
Sincerly,
Natasha Cozier

For the past 30 years, Jeff has been a great friend to me & my family. Reunions, vacations, weddings, baby dedication, holiday dinners, ... EVERYTHING. He was our family photographer! His presence and sense of humor will be sorely missed by all of us. To the family, may God comfort us all during this sad time.
