211 service members from Illinois lost their lives since September 11. Prior to This Memorial Day we still have random acts of domestic terrorism throughout our nation of America. Your patriotism, and genuine caring spirit shines brightly, and Proudly.

Dear Elie 7 Family,
I knowit has been some years since your son passed but I feel compelled to offer condolences to your family.
I lost my brother Neil in 1987in the military. He was an Army Ranger and was just 19 y.o. As the years move on you feel that your tragic loss is forgotten. But it is not. May hashem bless your house and may your family always know and believe his sacrifice was not in vain.
I met Albert as a very young boy when Ellie worked as a mason for my company.
If you ever need to talk you may contact me at [email protected]
Long live the fighters and shalom.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Dear family of Cpl. Albert Bitton,

We want to say thank you. We understand that no words can be adequate for your sorrow. We certainly do not want to intrude upon your privacy. As Americans we want you to know that we deeply appreciate the ultimate sacrifice your loved one has made for all of us. We also would like for you to be aware that with this letter comes our special concern and prayers for you. We are all safer because young men and women who love their country, and know the value of a free nation, are willing to put themselves in harms way, and lay down their lives to keep this nation free and safe for all of us.
Your sacrifice is also very great. We know that we can give little comfort; however, the knowledge that your loved one did not die in vain, but died in the service of our country, gives each of us a noble example of the value of life, and the responsibility of freedom. We hope this will bring pride and comfort to you.
We at Gethsemane Church believe that there is purpose to life. We send this letter with our deepest appreciation for the greatest of sacrifices, you and your loved one have given to this country. We know it is not enough, but please allow us to assure you that your loved one is not forgotten.

Very Sincerely

Frank G. Noyes

Albert Bitton was a lively young man. Albert could find the good in anyone and in any situation. When getting punished by his higher officials, Albert would joke around and make light of the situation so that he could make it fun for himself and the other boys getting in trouble. Albert had a way with making everything interesting. He once had to give a speech and in order to keep the other kids in his class awake, he brought a duck to school as a visual aid. Albert loved to make everyone laugh and feel important. He was compassionate towards everybody and everything, taking in stray animals when he was at home and giving the Iraqi children money for food while he was in Iraq. When he wasn’t hanging out with friends or busy playing video games, Albert loved to draw. No matter the situation, Albert would be there to help. His smile brought such warmth to the room and whenever he would smile, everyone around him couldn’t help but smile too.
We love you and will miss you always.

From the family of Albert Bitton, we would like to thank all of those who took the time to contribute to the guest book of my son, and brother, Albert.

When I first heard of this i didnt want to believe the words that were coming out of my friends mouth, because we were just asking one another if we heard of Bitton, and i told my friend, yeah, i just talked to him a few days before this happened.... and then i heard the bad news and was devistated. I really didnt know Bitton all that much, but the few times we all hung out at Ft.Campbell, were definitely ones to remember, the good ole times in the barracks. You have some good friends that will miss you terribly!!! From the medics and other personal in C/526BSB, 2nd BCT 101st ABN DIV, we send our condolenses to the family and friends of Cpl Bitton!

March 20, 2008

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

I would also like to tell you about a website, http://groups.msn.com/SSPSoldierPor
traits/homepage,
where some wonderful people will make wood portraits of your fallen Hero for free for the immediate family. I became aware of this site when I wanted to do something special for Le Ron’s mother.

I offer my deepest sympathy to Albert's family. I am the mother of an Army Medic serving in Baghdad. I just said good-bye to him yesterday, for the second time, as he returns to Iraq after a two week leave. I remember my son's words before he left for Iraq in Nov. His biggest fear was not dying but in the chance that he might not be able to save the life of one of his brothers. What a responsibility these young men face! Your son must have been a special young man and you should be so proud. May God bless all of you and help you through this heart breaking time.

My heartfelt sympathy to the Bitton family and friends in the loss of Albert. I did not know Albert, but my heart is broken and I am saddened for your loss of such a fine young person and hero. May God bring you peace in your heart as you reflect on all the wonderful memories you hold so close. Please know that you are in my heart and prayers. My heart was touched by the many wonderful/beautiful things written about you. Albert you are my hero and you will NEVER be forgotten.
I send each of you a hug from the most inner part of my heart.
Love and Peace

To the Family and Friends of this Soldier:
I will stand in grief with this soldier's family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten. You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.
If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero.
God Bless this soldier and family who gave all and God Bless legacy.com for setting up this site where families can so quickly share their condolences and prayers with others like themselves.

I was friends with Albert from day zero at Ft. Benning..I remember him needing someone to go to Jewish services with him on Sundays and I would go because he was my buddy. I was so proud of the Sunday when he was in charge of the service..As he said a prayer for us i remember having tears in my eyes..I went on to medical school at Ft. Sam Houston with Albert and remember having many good times with him there as well..I remember he was one of the first people I told when I asked my wife to marry me..We went on to Ft. Campbell together and even though we went different places I always called him or he would call me and we would talk about what was going on..He was one of the last of my friends I called before I came to Iraq in Sept. I loved him with all my heart and I'll miss him forever..He was my buddy, a fellow medic, and most of all a wonderful person..Kelly and I wil miss you..Doc Edgington

Dear Family and Friends,
I would like to offer my sincerest condolences. I cannot begin to imagine the loss and pain all are going through. My nephew is a United States Marine and serving in Iraq. We all pray for him and his comrade’s safety every day. War is a horrible reality. I salute and I am proud of all of our troops and their bravery to protect our freedom and serve their country with honor. Freedom is not free.

I am the father of Spc. Micheal B. Matlock Jr. I have been trying to reach the family of Sgt. Conrad Alvarez and Cpl. Albert Bitton to offer my heartfelt condolences to them. As my son was laid to rest on 2/28/08, I had many thought of if the other families were able to make it through such a tragic time. My prayers go out to them all as well as the soldiers remaining in Iraq. My life will never be the same and I truly share in your grief. Even thought I have never met you our lives will always be entwined because as I speak of how proud I was of my son, Sgt. Conrad Alvarez and Cpl. Albert Bitton will always be part of that story to Micheal’s son as well as others.

God Bless you

I went to elementary school with Albert. Phillip Rogers Elementary to be exact. Albert lived a couple of blocks down from me. I didn't really know him too well then, but I knew what kind of a person he was. A warm, kind, generous soul. When I heard his name and the news, it sparked my memory from 7 years ago. I went 7 years back, and then I knew, I remembered, and I started to cry. I wish that I knew more about him. My best to the Bitton family and close friends. I'm so sorry for your loss..truly. It's so cruel for someone so young to be taken away from us, and time won't heal all wounds but it will make things more bearable.

He truly made a tremendous kiddush Hashem by showing the world that one can maintain his strong, Jewish beliefs while at the same time demonstrate tremendous hakarot hatov and serve our host country, the great US of A.

May Hashem comfort the entire family during these trying times and may we merit to see the coming of Moshiach speedily in our times...

Upon hearing the news of Amichai's (Albert) passing I was truly devastated. Not only did he serve America but also his nation, the Jewish people, living in this country. He genuinely died a hero, an example for all of us to learn from and admire. He accomplished more in 20 short years than many do in a lifetime. He died sanctifying G-d's name. May his family be comforted Among the Mourners of Zion. May his memory be a blessing and may G-d send them consolation and peace knowing that his soul has ascended to The Throne of Glory in heaven. May he be an advocate for all of us.

I am Deeply Saddened to learn of the loss of Cpl. Albert Bitton.
The Price this Brave Young Soldier and his family have paid for this country and for freedom, Will Never Be Forgotten.

May Albert rest safely now, in the Loving Hands of God and may the Healing Grace and Comfort of the Lord be with the Bitton family.
There will Never Be Enough Ways to Humbly Thank these Young Heroes for their Sacrifices, my brother among them. Killed in action in Vietnam in 1967.

"Cast thy burden upon the Lord,
and He shall sustain thee."
~ Psalm 55:22 ~

Sincerely hoping that you can feel the thoughts of caring and support that surround you today and in the difficult days ahead, as this Grateful Country mourns with you, for Someone Very Precious to you, Who Is A True American Hero to all of us.
You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I wish to convey my deepest sympathy and condolences to the family and friends of Albert Bitton. While I didn't know him personally I am from the neighborhood (West Rogers Park)and a Landsman (member of the Jewish Community) and I would just like to say Albert must have been a very special person to put his life on the line while helping others and that he died Kiddush Ha Shem (Sanctifying G-ds Name). While it very hard to lose someone at a young age (I lost my father at an early age),G-d Ultimately rules the world and in time the pain will subside.Baruch Dayan Emet (Blessed be G-d the True Judge) and may you be Comforted along the Mourners of Zion and Jerusalem and the grateful members of both the American and the Jewish community whom Albert had sacrificed for.

To The Family of CPL Albert Bitton,
Although we never met your son, I will never forget receiving the message from our grandson who was serving with him in Iraq. We had met the other 2 soldiers who were lost at the same time, but when our grandson told us they had lost "their doc" also, it just is not something we will ever be able to forget. His fellow platoon members thought very highly of him, and he will always be remembered by many whose life he touched over in Iraq.
God Bless,
