Amy,
You dont know me but I am an old friend of your dad. I used to live three houses down from Al on Winchester Ave. We went to Vanderpoel together & high school. We had many adventures riding around Chicago & gettibg into trouble. Al's sharp wit kept everyone laughing.
I recently tried to call Al but did not get an answer. That's when Rick told me he was in the hospital. Al & I had met a couple of times at Winfields house over the last 6 years & started calling each other on the phone & had very long conversations. That's why I tried calling him a couple of weeks ago. I was shocked to hear of his passing. You have my deepest sympathies. I will miss Al very much.

Our condolences to Amy, who was Al's pride and joy and to his brothers, Rick and Ken.

Al was our first friend at 7141.He came to our door and welcomed me & my family to the 10th floor some 5 years ago.. We had the pleasure of his company and he was always welcome in our home. We spent many evenings eating, laughing and just hanging out as my children would say. Al was very fond of our culture and traditions and joined us for many family gatherings. He shared many stories with us and my kids bonded with him as they would with their grandfather.....

Al was not just our neighbor but our friend who we will always remember and we are happy to have known you... You will be missed!!

We last saw Al at Jake's Birthday party in Midlothian on September 1, 2008. We spent much of the day laughing with Al as his satirical humor kept us in stitches.
Win & Al were classmates at Vanderpoel Grammar School, while I met Al in the early 60's at Wendt's Restaurant, a "Happy Day's" kind of place were the teenagers congregated and friendships were born that continue to this day.

Mr & Mrs Wendt created a special place for us kids and were especially loyal to the boys serving our country, many in VietNam. Mrs Wendt would decorate a christmas tree with all the guys military photo's and made sure everyone who came in wrote a line or two in her letter campaign to each & every guy! She engrained lots of values in us, such as the importance of a letter from home.
Al went in and out of our life as life so often goes, but, over the years we have had many reunions that picked up right were we left off, laughing the night away as we reminisced of the good old days. There were a few tears too.
Al endured his share of heartache and savored his cherished memories.

We will continue to remember Al with the fondest of thoughts thru the best years of life. A very funny man.
Hope to see him again in a place were there is no heartache, but there is a "Happy Day's " and Al's seat awaits him. God is good and Jesus loves us!

Al was a good and decent man who always found time to help others in their life struggles, be they Vets or the elderly. The courage and determination Al displayed these past several years as he struggled with his own health issues has been an inspiration to his many friends. One of the greatest things that can be said about a person is that he/she made a difference in life, and Al did that - he made a difference. Though he will be missed by family and friends, we are left with the remembrances of his humor, and the other things he did that made us laugh - at him, and ourselves. My condolences to Amy, Jean, Rick and the rest of the Pariser extended family.

I want you to know that you and your mom are in my prayers.

Regardless of your dads varied life struggles the one constant that provided him with happiness and fulfillment was his unquestionable love for you and his pride in your many accomplishments.
