Alan Fishman Obituary

Fishman, Alan E.

Alan E. Fishman, 81.

Beloved husband of Lynn, nee Kleinberg. Loving father of Brad (Sherri) Fishman, Ira (Rebecca) Fishman and Jamie Bush. Proud grandfather of Zachary, Jacob, Ethan, Victoria and Adam Fishman, Max, Stephanie and Eli Bush. Dear brother of David (Rochelle) Fishman. Adored brother-in-law of the late Merle (Ronald) Swislow. Will be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was born in Chicago, Illinois to Florence and Sam Fishman. He graduated from Bowen High School. Alan married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Lynn Kleinberg, his wife for over 60 years. He began his career in the grocery business with his father. Later, he moved to the currency exchange business, where he flourished until his retirement. Alan was known for his huge heart and his love for his family and friends. He cherished his time with his children and grandchildren. He put family first and always went out-of-his way to be there and for that we all adored him. Whether it's being a special spectator at a sports activity or an across the country road trip with Lynn to visit his grandkids, friends and relatives or his standing Sunday morning breakfast with his boys, Alan lived to be loved and surrounded by those that loved him. Throughout his lifetime, golf was one of his favorite past times. He first was an active member of Hillcrest Country Club and Weston Hills Country Club in Weston, FL and then moved to Hunter's Run Country Club in Boynton Beach, where he resided with Lynn and surrounded by countless close friends for the last eight years of his life. Service Friday 2 PM at Chicago Jewish Funerals, 195 N. Buffalo Grove Road (One block north of Lake Cook Road) Buffalo Grove. Interment Shalom. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to FRAXA Research Foundation, 10 Prince Place, Suite 203, Newburyport, MA 10950, www.fraxa.org. or Keshet, 610 Academy Drive, Northbrook, IL 60062 www.keshet.org. My dear Al, we have so many memories. You never treated me as a friend , always as a brother. I have some great pictures of us , but the night of Bowens prom when we doubled, I have pictures of you and Lynn together in our house all dressed up in the tuxes, and our beautiful girls. So many years, so many memories. Always in my thoughts. I miss you good buddy. Mike

A whole fast year has gone by since you left us. I have only called Lynn once since , as I did not want to be of a bother to her. I miss talking an seeing you as we had so many good times to remember. Still have pictures of us at the house before the prom at Bowen. Miss those days. We shall never forget until we meet again.

18 November 2021
I thought I submitted a condolence note previously, but it's not in this queue so I'll resubmit it.
I'm a year younger than Al and was a semester behind him at Bowen High School. My main connection with him was that I succeeded him as president of Fort Dearborn AZA. He was a good model to follow and a congenial guy, easy to get along with and well-liked.
May G-d comfort all of you among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem and may you have no more sorrow.
Sincerely, Chuck Bernstein

Al, you broke my heart, my oldest friend, the life and times from Bowen till now, I shall miss you until we meet again. I know all the guys are waiting for me up there. I shall miss meeting you and Rich at Hot Dog Heaven. You will always be my oldest and best friend. Even my little puppy was born on your birth date May 17th. To many stories to recall but I remember them all. As long as you were only a phone call away I was always feeling very secure that everything was OK. Feeling a great emptiness now . 67 years have gone by and it was to short a time for us. My G-D bless you and keep you happy up there. Mike(Jerome)
