Dear Nonna, "mom", friend: There are many memories that I get to keep that will make me smile when I think of you:
Your hot soup, lasagne, cappelletti, tortes, cookies and all your other homey meals, our chicken-on-the-bone meals, seeing you standing in your kitchen in your apron, calling out "Pronto" when your meal was ready, stirring polenta on the stove (You taught me how to stir polenta and flip it onto a plate.) I think of you sitting with Mara and Leila on the living room floor watching them play with The Farm or your sewing spools, cutting out paper dolls, teaching them Italian songs and rhymes.
I loved our chats about everyone in Italy: your sister, Maria, Lena and Giovanni, Franco and Irma and all the others.
You always said: The Bonometti work all the time. I work so hard. Well, now you can finally rest. I will miss you Nonna.
