Family-Placed Death Notice

Adrian Schultz Morris, 101, of Atlanta, Georgia died on December 9, 2003. He was born in Augusta, Georgia on May 27, 1902 to Grace McConnell Morris and Ralph Milledge Morris. He attended the Academy of Richmond County and Georgia Institute of Technology. He received his CLU degree in 1945. He was in the insurance business for over fifty years in various capacities. He took early retirement from Metropolitan Life and served as Executive Director for several insurance organizations including The Atlanta Association of Life Underwriters, The Atlanta Chapter of the American Society of CLU, The Atlanta General Agents and Managers Association, and the Life Insurance Leaders of Georgia. He taught life insurance courses for over ten years. In 1978, he received from the Atlanta Association the Henry L. Davis Distinguished Award for outstanding service to the insurance business and from the Georgia State Association, The George M. Conner Memorial Award for outstanding service to the life insurance business in the state of Georgia. He was a past chairman of the Official Board of Trinity on the Hill United Methodist Church in Augusta and for over thirty years served on the Official Board and ushered at Peachtree Road United Methodist Church in Atlanta. He was a member and President of the Wesley Fellowship Gleaners Class of Peachtree Road UMC. He served as Treasurer of Peachtree Road UMC for two years. He was five years Chairman of the Committee on Membership and Evangelism of the church. He served for several years as General Secretary of the Sunday School and he worked with the Day School.He was past president of the Buckhead North Civitan Club. He was a member of the Georgia Tech National Alumni Association, the Buckhead Fifty Club, The Atlanta Association of Life Underwriters, The Atlanta Chapter of CLU, and The Atlanta Estate Planning Council. He was a 32nd Scottish Rite Mason and a member of The York Rite Bodies. He was a member of The Ansley Golf Club. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his first wife, Virginia Marsh Morris and his second wife, Mildred Garner Morris, and by brothers, Joseph Longstreet Morris, Milledge Morris, junior, William Henry Morris, Thomas Miller Morris and by sister, Julia Morris Youngblood. He is survived by his daughter, Ann Morris Fulton, of Duluth, Georgia; grandson, Adrian Powell Fulton and his wife, Amy Hinmon Fulton, of Rome, Georgia; granddaughter, Betsy Fulton Carmichael and her husband, Rev. Josh Carmichael, of Orangeburg, South Carolina; great grandsons, Joseph Fulton Carmichael and Morris Cassady Carmichael of Orangeburg, South Carolina; sister-in-law, Irene E. Morris of Augusta; nephews, Dr. William Henry Morris, junior, of Summerville, South Carolina; Ralph Milledge MOrris, III and his wife, Beverly, of Beaufort, South Carolina; Lt. Col. Ret. Joseph Morris and his wife, Imogene, of Columbia, South Carolina; Robert Morris Youngblood and his wife, Peggy, of Stone Mountain, Georgia; and his nieces, Iris Morris Shealy of Quitman, Georgia; Jane Morris Greene and her husband, Hugh Greene, of Augusta, Georgia; Corrille Morris DeWitt of Summerton, South Carolina; Gail Youngblood Dodd of Clarksville, Georgia; nephews of his first wife, George C. Marsh and his wife, Margaret, of Raleigh, North Carolina; Dr. Charles Cuttino III and his wife, Ann, of Richmond, Virginia; niece of his first wife, Betsy Ann Marsh of Raleigh, North Carolina; and his dear friend, Helen Bach Jones of Atlanta, Georgia. His body was given to the Medical College of Emory School of Medicine. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Georgia Institute of Technology or Peachtree Road United Methodist Church. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2003 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Peachtree Road United Methodist Church. The family will receive guests at 10:00 A.M. and again following the service.
