Adeline Schuster Obituary

Schuster, Adeline

Adeline Schuster, 98, died peacefully at her home of over 70 years surrounded by her family, on August 11, 2024. She was born on Feb 18, 1926, in Milwaukee, WI, but grew up in the Humboldt Park neighborhood of Chicago, IL. She was raised in a union household and actively supported social justice throughout her life. A graduate of Tuley High School and Roosevelt University, she later earned her MLS from Rosary College (now Dominican University). She worked as a professional librarian for firms focused on the arts and architecture. She married Victor Schuster (1919-2001) in 1948; they welcomed daughter Leslie in 1954 and son Eric in 1957. She was a longtime supporter of local theater and particularly loved G. B. Shaw. She and Victor enjoyed traveling internationally in retirement. She is preceded in death by her husband, and many close lifelong friends. She is survived by daughter Leslie, son Eric (Katherine), grandson Max Schuster, and granddaughter Anna (Malcolm) Maxfield. A private memorial will be held. In lieu of flowers, please instead donate to Blind Service Chicago. She passed away before her mail-in ballot arrived – please vote in her name.
