Edward Flynn Obituary

Edward J. Flynn, Jr., 59 of Savannah died in a home fire April 17, 2005. He was born August 30, 1945 to Edward J. Flynn, Sr., and Bernadette E. Auen Flynn in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Mr. Flynn moved to Savannah in 1994 from Jacksonville, Florida. He became employed with the City of Savannah as Street maintenance supervisor and construction inspector. Ed was a Air Force Veteran, serving 3 years in Iceland. He was also involved with the Core of Engineers in Florida during Hurricanes Hugo and Andrew. Surviving members of his family include his daughter Shana Roberts; two grandchildren, Kristen Roberts and Brandon Roberts all of Savannah; former wife, Anita Flynn; step-son, Richard Beach, both of Jacksonville, FL; a sister, Bernadette Flynn of Pittsburgh, PA. Also longtime friend Roxanne Wilharm and a number of friends. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at Massey -Framke Funeral Care. Funeral service will be Thursday, May 5, 2005 at 2 p.m., at Massey-Framke Chapel with Pastor Gary Bradham of the New Vision Baptist Church in Savannah will officiate. i have had the joy of woking with ed and knowing edward for the past ten yrs. i am very sadden and heartbroken by what has happen may god be with his family, through this pain in there heart.

There are just some people that this world could use more of. Ed was one of those persons. He was kind, selfless, Smart, Hard Working but most of all Loving. Thank you Ed for being a person we called a friend. And I know, God's comfort is with his family.

Mr. Flynn will be greatly missed here at the City Lot, he would always go out his way to help you anyway he can, there is a void here that can never be filled. It was a pleasure knowing him and my deepest sympathy to his family. God Bless

It was a pleasure working with Ed. In the short time that I have been with the City, no one was more helpful to me or demonstrated more knowledge than Ed Flynn.
