Gregory Dash Obituary

Gregory David Dash, Sr., 78, of Sykesville, MD passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at home. He was born on December 13, 1946, in Baltimore, MD to the late Louis William Dash and Grace Cathel (Coates) Dash. He was the devoted husband of over 45 years to Judy A. (Schwarting) Dash. Greg served in the US Navy from 1964-1967. He then went on to have a long career with Baltimore Gas & Electric then Exelon where he retired as a Distribution Line Mechanic. He was a long time member of Sykesville American Legion, Post #223 where he served in roles as Commander, Historian, Sergeant at Arms and executive officer for the district. Family and friends were important to Greg. He enjoyed decorating for every holiday, hunting, fishing, splitting firewood and most importantly spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Greg was a jokester who loved telling jokes and making everyone laugh. Surviving in addition to his wife are sons Gregory David Dash, Jr. and wife Sarah, Scott Louis Dash and companion Sharon Williams and Andrew Michael Dash; daughters Holly Marie Dash and Amanda Rene Dash and wife Megan Dash; brother Stephen Dash and wife Josefina; grandchildren: Gregory D. Dash, III and wife Bree, Andrew M. Dash, Jr., Kallie Dash, Amanda Hoffman, Sakura Dash, Dallas A. Dash, Maddi-Ann Dash, Levi J. Dash, Benjamin J. Dash and Hannah R. Dash and great-grandchildren: Jacob, Zedekiah and Caleb. The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 27, 2025, from 2 to 5 PM at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville, MD where a funeral service will be held on Monday, April 28, 2025, at 11 AM. Interment with military honors will follow in Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery, Owings Mills, MD. Those desiring may make memorial donations to the American Cancer Society.
