HOUSTON, TX
On Friday the 13th of September the world lost a beautiful man, Bogdan Jan Fal. He entered into eternal rest at hospital in Houston Texas. To most he was lovingly known by the name of Bug, but he also had many other nicknames such as Bog, Buggy, Bugalicious, Bogus, Bohdan, Bogdan John, Bobo as well as Dad, Papa Bug, son (synku), husband, brother (bracie), cousin and dear friend. He lived life on his terms and loved to build, be in nature, eat, drink, dance, sing, laugh, joke, sleep and smoke during his earthly reign. Even though he resided in Texas, he enjoyed spending time with his mother and siblings numerous times a year. Bogdan was a contractor all his life. He left his impressive mark not only in the US but in other areas of the world as well. Bug gave meaning to the word unfinished business. Bug had a funny habit of leaving little things not quite finished, much like how his loved ones felt he left this world. Although, for every unfinished project there were 20 times more examples of his impressive craftsmanship.
Many work companions and neighbors will miss Bogdan. He treated everyone he met like family and made sure they were fed and taken care of in every job whether it was large or small. Bug had a zest for life, he worked hard and loved harder. You could always count on him to make you smile. If you were feeling down, he was the one you could call to make you laugh. Besides being a very talented carpenter, his greatest role was that of Papa. The time he spent with his granddaughters was not only rich in quantity but more importantly quality. He made sure to be so present in their lives and be a significant part of their happiness. He would teach, play, and just enjoy life with them. There are some people that were just meant to be incredible grandparents, and Bug was one of them. He spent so much time over at his daughter's home that they hung a sign in the garage that read Papas Garage. It was very apparent how loved Bug is. Even in the last moments of his life he had over a dozen visitors come and stay by his side. He will be missed terribly and there is a polock size hole in all the hearts of those who had the honor to know him.
Bug was working at a job in Houston, TX for the Terry Family when he met his late wife and soulmate, Imelda. They enjoyed many years together until sadly Imelda passed. If you were to ask anyone that knew them, they would tell you that Imelda brought out the best in Bug. Bug traveled with Imelda to live out her last moments with her family in the Philippines. Bug continued to stay in contact and visit Imelda's side of the family. As always family was very important and came first in his life.
To mourn his passing Bogdan leaves his wonderful, fun, loving family. His daughter Colleen Rose Fal and her wife Ashley; His two granddaughters who were the light and joy of his life Lily Ann and Renlee Rose; His sweet and precious mother, Janina Anna, sister Ewa, brother Mirek and his wife Valerie, along with the oldest brother Andrew Joseph; His three loving nieces Jillian Joane and her fianc Jack Speer, Zofia Elizabeth and Victoria Kathryn and her boyfriend Luther. Also, left to mourn are his first wife Cheryl Lee Connelly, life-long friend Dave Harris and his wife Aye Aye Soe; along with countless family and friends in Connecticut, Houston, and other areas of the country.
The hour that Bog left us was 19:24. Bogdan was predeceased by his wife Imelda, his oldest sister Elzunia, and his Father Wladyslaw (Walter).
Bogdan's final journey will begin Saturday (September 21, 2024) with a viewing from 9 a.m. - 10 a.m. at the Shaker-Hill Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Ave. New Britain followed by a divine liturgy at 10:30 a.m. at St. Josaphat's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 303 Eddy Glover Blvd. New Britain. Committal and final resting place will be in St. Mary Cemetery, 1141 Stanley St. New Britain.
In lieu of flowers donations in Bogdan's memory may be made to St. Josaphat's Ukrainian Catholic Church, where he had served as an altar boy and communicant. We thank God for the sublime gift of Bogdan (his name translates to God given) to us and his posterity.
